Liquid defeat mousesports; seal grand final spot in Montpellier

Liquid are through to the grand final at ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals after beating mousesports 2-0 in the semis.

The second semi-final in Montpellier, France commenced on Overpass where the CT-sided mousesports won the pistol round thanks to Finn "karrigan" Andersen's quad-kill. Liquid overturned a two-man disadvantage in the first gun round to get on the scoreboard, trailing 2-1. David "frozen" Čerňanský won a 1vs2 in the sixth round to tie the game at 3-3 but his team then lost four in a row to trail 7-3.

Liquid extended their lead to five rounds by halftime as they reached double-digits (10-5). karrigan and company got within two rounds of Liquid by attaining the first three rounds to begin their T-side campaign but Liquid imposed their will afterwards, taking six consecutive rounds to win the map 16-8.

Liquid will face G2 in the grand final

The match continued on Nuke, which started with a nine-round Liquid streak. Chris "chrisJ" de Jong's 1vs4 clutch in the tenth round and Özgür "woxic" Eker's quad-kill in the 15th were the only bright spots for the T-sided mousesports in the first half as they trailed 13-2 at halftime.

The European team secured six of the first seven rounds to kick off the second half. Liquid almost broke through in the 23rd round but a quick quad-kill by frozen kept them off match point (14-9). Liquid got there two rounds later by winning a 3vs5, earning five match points.

Liquid nearly closed out the game in the penultimate round as they had a 4vs2 advantage but three kills and a last-second defuse by woxic saved mousesports, who grabbed one more round to take it to overtime. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and company wrapped it up with a 19-17 final scoreline, taking the series 2-0 and advancing to the grand final in the French event.

Shame no 3rd map and Mouz definitely fucked up a few times in the closing rounds and overtime. Good shit from w0xic though. Liquid will walk over G2 in my opinion unless KennyS literally has his best game this year and 'does a w0xic' and carries the team.

Since about the first Betas of 1.6 were coming out :) I'm quite old. KennyS isn't in his prime anymore. He's still one of the best awpers on the scene but he doesn't often dominate games as he used to, also Liquid are on a roll at the moment and starting to genuinely look like the number 1 team. We'll see, should be a good match.
