mixwell departs Movistar Riders; EasTor joins
mixwell went back to his roots creating an all Spanish team after stints in North American and European sides, most notably under OpTic, during a short trial period under G2, as well as in a first-place run as a stand-in at DreamHack Valencia 2018 with North.
The Spanish AWPer, who won ELEAGUE Season 2 during his time in North America, was set on creating a Spanish roster to compete with European top flight teams but has now stepped down from the national project.
During his time with Movistar Riders, mixwell played several local LANs, two of which Riders won, LVP’s La Copa 2018 and the Superliga Orange 2019 Finals, although they were bested by Giants on several occasions, most notably at the BLAST Pro Series Madrid Play-in, which gave access to the main event.
As far as international tournaments go, two of the more important ones Movistar Riders played were Copenhagen Games 2019, where the team had a semifinal run, and the WESG 2018 World Finals, where they got a 17th-23rd place finish after losing to Windigo and fnatic in the group stage.
mixwell made the following statement regarding his departure from Riders and his future:
“I’m starting a new journey, which will give me the opportunity to play against the best teams in the world again, although it was a very hard decision for me to make because Movistar Riders is my home. I am very proud of having decided to return to Spain to compete in one of the best organizations in Europe, and I hope I can come back to it one day.”
To replace mixwell on the team, Movistar Riders have signed EasTor, a Spanish AWPer who played the WESG 2017 World Finals with mixwell, Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran, Aitor "SOKER" Fernández, and David "Kairi" de Miguel under the Wololos banner.
"The only way to replace talent is with more talent. I trust in EasTor as a player and as a person, which is why I have decided to give him an opportunity to join us on our journey."
