ESL One Cologne reaches playoffs

We are down to the final six teams at ESL One Cologne following the end of the double-elimination group stage.

The two group winners, Astralis and Liquid, will advance straight into the semi-finals of the single-elimination bracket, while the runners-up will take on the third-placed sides from their mirror group in the quarter-finals.

The playoffs will be held at the iconic Lanxess Arena and will start with a clash between NRG and Vitality in a rematch of the recent ECS Season 7 Finals encounter between the two teams, now with Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz leading the North American team.

The Lanxess Arena will open its doors on Friday

After that, viewers will be treated to a mouth-watering clash between Natus Vincere and NiP, two CS:GO heavyweights attending the event with their most recent additions, Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov and Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora, respectively.

Liquid are currently leading the race for the Intel Grand Slam Season 2 prize and will win a cheque for $1 million should they come out on top of ESL One Cologne. If they reach the best-of-five final and lose the series, the champion will walk away with the $100,000 “Giant Killer Bonus" in addition to the tournament's grand prize of $125,000.

Below you can find the complete schedule for the playoffs:

18:50 - Russia Natus Vincere vs. Sweden NiP | BO3

lol shitting on Brazil when ur from India But tbh I think Liquid would have played different on Overpass if they knew that they'd be eliminated. You can't just take the result of a game after editing the game before it. Liquid win 2-1 imho, but maybe that's just cuz I'm biased.

doesn't matter if he said "no mercy" a team still plays different if the stakes are higher. Am I saying its a guaranteed Liquid victory 2-1? No, but I think you can't just say "oh 2-0 Navi."

yea but they didnt... I could say navi couldve 2-0ed them if they won all the 1vX's but they didnt. They lost Alright. Plus liquid depends on their preperation if you watch any of their vlog videos and they couldnt prepare like they usally do since they havent played this navi roster before. Thats why they were making more mistakes than they usally were.
2019-07-05 13:24
A simple shot at the back is much, much more realistic than 1vX clutches tho They still played better than liquid in dust2 prior to the knife attempt and on overpass, let's see if they can keep up this form in the match today

2019-07-04 21:39
Grand finals is a bo5
2019-07-04 21:43
Then I honestly think there is pretty much no way for vitality to win against liquid. Their map pool is way too weak for a bo5 against this team. The only turn of events I see this happening in is if liquid let vertigo in somehow.
2019-07-04 22:12
Same for G2 and they could have won 3-1,
2019-07-04 22:44
I agree except for that vertigo is ELIGE's playground. Unless he's having a bad day, liquid win on vert.
2019-07-05 07:48
Imo vertigo is way too aim based and with zywoo playing on vitality god knows what’s going to happen.

2019-07-04 21:44
cool story bro, now wake up)
2019-07-04 21:57
Why? If you’re talking about the Na’Vi part - I absolutely despise this org after the edward kick. Though they are playing extremely well. And, if you’ve been watching cs for a while - you probably know that Na’Vi tend to win the first event with the new lineup and become utter shit after.
2019-07-04 22:10
You despise an org because they kicked a player they should have kicked a year and a half ago? Don't mix business with feelings, Edward was essentially living off other people's hard work. Not that he didn't put in the same effort, he simply couldn't keep up.
2019-07-04 22:25
I watched this man play and cheered for his team for 8-9 years. 9 fucking years and he’s suddenly gone. I don't care about no business. My man edward got kicked.
2019-07-04 23:32
So what? Being a fan of someone shouldn't be exclusive to your opinion of an organization. Why was Navi not dead to you when literally their whole 1.6 roster dwindled away into what is now essentially just zeus who was also kicked at some point? At the start of CS:go Edward was a notorious slacker who missed practice all the time (the gambit trade). He's partly responsible for the steps they had to take to get to this roster. If anything you should be praising them for backpacking his ass around as long as they did.
2019-07-04 23:39
If anything, most of the things you just said are probably fake and none of these are confirmed. Nothing more than empty trashtalk.
2019-07-05 02:32
Signed up 2016-08-06 Issue spotted. Good day.
2019-07-05 02:45
Lmao Can you notice those “_ ^” things around my nickname? Well, I suppose I should give you a minute to think so that you can guess what they could mean and why they are there. I’ve been following cs since late 2010 btw. And I do know a whole lot about who edward was for the team. Show me a link to a single pro saying edward isn't an amazing professional. His ratings aren't what matters.

NRG > vitality 2-1 (really close maybe 2: 16-14 games out of the 3) Navi > NiP 2-0 Astralis > NRG 2-0 Liquid > Navi 2-0 (One of tL biggest strengths is getting to make adjustments before a match) Liquid > Astralis 3-2 in the epic finals we have been waiting for Not ez 4 liquid, but that's how they win, close grind it out games Grand slam for the liquid avengers: Captain America = nitr0 Ironman = stew Spiderman = twist Hulk = elige Thor = naf

Nitr0 is definetly cap and also is marketed as captain America on their video release of marvel x liquid. I think stew fits as ironman, who would make a better Tony stark than stew. Confident and cocky young stew :D

Probably another Liquid vs Astralis final I won't watch. If there's anyone else but astralis then it'll be by default better. Fingers crossed.
