Natus Vincere move on to ESL One Cologne semis over NiP

Natus Vincere have advanced to the semi-finals at ESL One Cologne following a 2-0 series against NiP (Inferno 16-12, Mirage 16-9).

Natus Vincere chose Inferno as the first map of the second quarter-final series and looked to start things off with a dominant offense, securing a 6-1 lead early thanks to one of their signature second-round forcebuys as well as a 1v2 from Denis "electronic" Sharipov in the third round.

The Swedes managed to equalize things on the back of individual plays, with Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson, Fredrik "REZ" Sterner, and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund all picking up multikills, and secured another round before the half ended to trail by just one in time for the second half.

NiP took the second pistol round after Na`Vi's gamble stack on B didn't work out in the pistol and this time around survived the following anti-forcebuy, but a blunder on the B bombsite helped Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko's side win with just pistols in the third round.

flamie closed out Inferno before it got dangerous

It wasn't until 13-9 when NiP responded again with two in a row, in one of which GeT_RiGhT stepped up with a massive quad-kill to turn a 2v5 around on B. Nonetheless, it wasn't enough to stay in contention for the opening map, as after the two teams traded two rounds, another pistol buy saw Egor "flamie" Vasilyev clutch a 1v1 and add a triple-kill on top to secure a series lead at 16-12.

Mirage started out with a couple of clean rounds going Na`Vi's way after Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov stepped up with a flashy triple in the pistol round, but the favorites were unable to capitalize on it, with the Swedes stringing three together in response. Another 1v1 clutch from flamie and an auto-shotgun triple from Zeus eventually tipped the scales in the favor of the Russian-Ukrainian squad, who rallied to a 10-5 half as CT.

A smart stack behind firebox starring Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Boombl4 turned a 2v4 around for Natus Vincere in the second pistol round, which soon turned into a 14-5 lead. NiP delayed for four in a row on the back of a couple of plays from Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, but they couldn't complete the comeback as electronic's 1v2 pushed his team to match point and shortly after to the 16-9, 2-0 victory.

they lost the game but not the war so i dont really care who won since navi were better on both maps s1mple tried to knife, they lost the match, he was punished. but as he said, it wont happen again and he will not let them win again. but mb liquid gonna play better. still a 50/50 match
2019-07-05 23:30
more like 55/45 but yea i agree
2019-07-06 00:04
Just like every bo3 they played since Naf joined
2019-07-06 10:59
I expect the match to actually be harder for Liquid. They already should have lost against the s1mple show, but now boomich seems more confortable and electronic and flamie finally awoke. It's gonna be helluva match tomorrow.

Do you know that professional teams have structures and if youre not familiar with the structure or the structure is unstable (like in NiPs case) then it will be hard for a new player to feel comfortable ingame and perform individually. NiP had a bad game as a team, and Plopski being the newest member got more affected by it than the rest of the players who have been playing together longer. Its not rocket science
2019-07-05 21:24
Also had first "new t1 team" tournament jitters obviously kinda like boomich.. But boomich adapted faster because he has been training with them for a month now and also already has played on stage of majors...

That's not even the main problem. As you may have noticed, flamie is pretty damn good on Mirage. In the series against Liquid, flamie did his job on Overpass, which they took. But then it was time for the decider, that same Mirage that he was considered one of the best players on, and then... he just disappears, like NiKo. Flamie singlehandedly lost them that series with his choke.

It's absurd how much talent f0rest has at his age. People are going to rag on plopski, but he's in a brand new team against much better competition, give him time to grow and then level criticism.

This was a spectacle in my opinion. I never seen the whole team play so well. There is no S1mple who is insanely carrying the team couse u see electronic getting entry frags. Boombl4 makinging space Zeus playing out of his mind and making insane calls. Flamie is on fire and is deffinitly on fire and an mvp this game. Kane seemed positive and motivated as well. This is a clear picture of champions. I am very curious how they will perform TMR. Hopes for no knife attempts lmao 😂.

With Liquid in the semis and Astralis in the finals... I really doubt it. Too good teams, too bad for NaVi especially. I think to beat them, S1mple, electronic and flamie have to be in their best form. But this will not happen because of good team play from opponents and as a result losing confidence for NaVi players. And too many missed shots from S1mple in this tournament. But I wish them luck anyway.

Good call but don't forget Navi should of won liquid last time the played. This time there will be no mistakes and Navi rly want to revenge do the shots will be hit in my opinion. But yeh I just hope got at least a 2:1 no matter who wins

This is so cruel to NIP, cuz they cannot win a major again in those years. Feel sad for them.

NiP, a team that most of the time reach the playoffs, but rarely reach the semis and are nowhere close of being title contenders

ngl NaVi is looking good atm. still no chance against Liquid and dont come at me with that "oh if S1mple didnt that if S1mple didnt his ez 2-0" u never know if the same thing would have happened on overpass. Anyway tommorow we will see a 2-0 win for Liquid NaVi has the best player but Team Liquid is the best team and since its a team game ez4Liquid they getting this grand slam

I see a lot of people mocking at plopski, a young player who was having his first big tournament with new teammates under an unstructured team. What other comments would you expect from those retards?
