Vitality pull out of ESL One New York qualifier

Due to a congested schedule, Vitality has forfeited their slot in the ESL One New York 2019 Closed Qualifier, seeing Sprout advance to the semi-final.

The news is announced shortly ahead of the scheduled start of the opening games of the ESL One New York Closed Qualifier, in which eight teams were set on competing for one slot at the tournament.

Vitality will not participate in the ESL One New York qualifier

Vitality's upcoming schedule includes flying to Dallas, Texas for the MDL S31 Global Challenge and MDL S31 Europe Finals (12-14 July), where the Frenchmen will have a chance to qualify for ESL Pro League S10 through a match against Sprout. Following that, Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and co. will attend IEM Chicago on 18-21 of July. The team's coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam added that he departs for America today, with the rest of the team leaving tomorrow.

On Twitter, NBK- revealed that the information about the withdrawal was communicated to ESL on Sunday, but no replacement team was invited to the Closed Qualifier. Therefore, Sprout got a free pass into the semi-final, where they will meet the winner of CR4ZY - mousesports.

2019-07-09 12:04
Then g2 can qualify
2019-07-09 12:06
Can they invite Vitality instead? #2 in the world deserve an invite
2019-07-09 12:10
Even if they got an invite they will decline it due to the heavy schedule
2019-07-09 12:11
I think the problem is the qualifier, not the actual event?
2019-07-09 12:30
"it would overbook our schedule for September"
2019-07-09 12:33
You can't exclude the fact they might think they deserve an invite for ESL One as they ended #2 of the last one. And if they got one, they will adapt. It is kind of diva behavior but imo it is understandable as their schedule is indeed crowded.

plus getting out of MDL has to be a big motivation for them, besides star ladder, I can see this easily being their biggest goal

They'll get an invite probably...
2019-07-09 13:28
If they had an invite, they wouldn't be listed for this qualifier...
2019-07-09 13:35
This has happened in the past Sometimes the team even plays the qualifier and loses
2019-07-09 13:52
If you talk about HellRaisers playing StarSeries, then you'll know that there are ties between these orgs...
2019-07-09 13:55
But it has happened before is what you're saying
2019-07-09 15:17
You dont just get invited if your top tier, you need to attend at the previous event and made it to the playoffs.

2019-07-09 13:18
As consistent and that young, Zywoo must be the top 2 highest buyout out there. Since he is totally fresher and without any toxic past like s1mple I wouldn't be surprised him to be more expensive than s1mple. And that's just if he is for sell at all. After all Vitality just got 20 millions or something like that invested in their org earlier this year. So they don't need any cash anytime soon and so, can keep grinding his buy out price with future achievement.

ngl this is lame, at least another team from European region could have attended this event, its not like Vitality couldn't see it earlier that they wouldn't have a chance to attend New York, informing 2 days prior to match is way too late IMO
2019-07-09 12:31
maybe it's because of their run at Cologne that they decide to forfeit ? idk

people cant read? he's not saying they can't play today he says they don't want to go to NY in around September cuz they have too many events, and most of them are in Europe (Major, Blast, Dreamhack, EPL S10) and i think going all the way through Cologne might have changed their mind
