NRG, Cloud9 secure first victories in Los Angeles
Renegades kicked off Dust2 with a four-round lead, made sweeter by a solid anti-eco triple kill from Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas. Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte secured NRG's first round on the CT side, as two kills apiece in round five meant the team's first digit on the map.
The shift in momentum yielded the American roster long-term results, as Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's men assumed the lead for the first time in the series at 5-4. Renegades managed to break their opponents' streak, but this turned out to be offense's last round of the half, as the CTs went on to close out all remaining rounds, producing a 10-5 scoreline.
On the offense, NRG were able to get off to a fruitful start, furthering their lead with an immediate three rounds. Renegades then retaliated and landed two rounds of their own, but were unable to continue the momentum further. stanislaw and company pushed the defence aside, eventually wrapping things up at 16-8.

Damian "daps" Steele was the X-factor in the first round of Mirage, as a Glock triple kill ensured his team's early lead. The following four rounds all went in favour of the offense, witnessing an additional two multi-frags, this time courtesy of Timothy "autimatic" Ta and Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas. It was at this point that FaZe finally started accruing rounds, with their comeback performance jumpstarted by an impressive quad kill from Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, shortly followed by an ace from Håvard "rain" Nygaard. Outstanding individual performances over the remainder of the half allowed FaZe to soften the halftime deficit significantly, closing out their CT side with a 7-8 score.
Filip "NEO" Kubski and his crew carried their late success into the latter pistol round, but only managed to secure two rounds victories prior to Cloud9 once more assuming the driver's seat. The defence, led by daps, consistently dismantled the aggressors, securing six of the ensuing seven rounds as a result. With their opponents just two rounds from closing out, FaZe made a last-ditch push for a comeback, but the effort fell through, as Cloud9 landed their first tournament victory with a 16-12 score.
