Liquid ease past FaZe; NRG take down MIBR

Liquid extended their perfect start to BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles with a commanding victory over FaZe, while NRG picked up their second victory of the tournament after beating MIBR.

The battle between the top two teams in the standings began with a solid start from Liquid, who won the first two rounds on the CT side of Nuke. After getting their economy back on track, FaZe enjoyed a spell of pressure and put the North American players against the ropes, but after the mid-way point of the half, Nick "nitr0" Cannella's troops took control of proceedings, securing seven rounds without response en route to a dominant 11-4 score.

Liquid were far too hot for FaZe to handle

Now playing on the Terrorist side, Liquid breezed through the FaZe defense at will and brought the scoreline to 14-4. The European team still attempted a response but continued to be no match for the home side, who showed just how far ahead of the pack they are as they won the final two rounds they needed to cruise to their fourth victory in Los Angeles.

Over on the secondary stream, NRG continued their road to recovery after a slow start to the tournament by defeating MIBR in convincing fashion on Inferno. The Brazilian team, who are still in contention for a playoff spot heading into the final round of fixtures, came out the brighter of the two sides but struggled to match the pace of their opponents once both teams had guns, and were limited to just four rounds in the half.

Ethan led the way for NRG against the Brazilians

After switching to the CT side, MIBR took the pistol round and the following anti-ecos to keep their comeback hopes alive, but just like in the first half, things started falling apart for them as soon as the game hit the gun rounds. NRG hit match point at 15-7 and eventually locked down the map four rounds later off the back of a trio of kills by Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, the team's top performer, in a post-plant situation over in the B site.
