G2 overrun GamerLegion to reach GGL final

G2 are through to the grand final of Good Game League 2019 after taking down GamerLegion 2-0 in the last-four stage.

The French team were one step ahead of their opponents for much of the series and hardly had to break a sweat to come out on top in the end. GamerLegion pinned all their hopes on Vertigo, but the gamble did not pay off as G2 were well prepared on the map.

G2, who will go on to face Tricked in the final, look eager to lay hands on the trophy and break a titleless run that stretches back to DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017, with Audric "JaCkz" Jug taking this tournament rating to 1.46 after yet another impressive display.

Richard "shox" Papillon's troops got off to a slow start on Nuke, but things quickly picked up as they won an eco in the third round. They exploited glaring holes in GamerLegion's defence for the remainder of the half and cruised to an emphatic 11-4 lead - a scoreline that could have been even more severe had Dennis "dennis" Edman not come huge for his team with the Desert Eagle in two eco rounds.

G2 made light work of GamerLegion

After switching over to the CT side, G2 took the pistol round and the following anti-eco before Kevin "HS" Tarn rescued GamerLegion with a 1v2 clutch. The Swedes began to mount a comeback and even reached double digits, but then G2 quickly wrapped things up after taking a more serious approach and dropping the double shotgun setup.

Next up was Vertigo, a map on which GamerLegion had defeated FURIA on LAN back at Moche XL Esports. The game followed the same pattern as the first map as G2, who had won just one of the three games that they had played on this map, took control of proceedings after a slow start, setting up a water-tight defence in gun rounds. Any round that GamerLegion won was immediately countered with a round by G2, who raced to an 11-4 lead.

Things then went from bad to worse for GamerLegion as the Swedish team collapsed under a fast B execute by G2 in the second half pistol. This time around, there would be no comeback attempt as the French side kept the pace going and won five rounds in a row en route to a dominant 16-4 victory.

Against Tricked they should be able to choke and still win! Tricked might have surprised some people by getting to the final, but they haven't actually impressed much during their games so far.

I meant during this tournament they have been better than expected but still not impressed with how they got their wins. You can take it either as me having a go at them, or as a compliment that they can achieve this without being "on top". And I was just talking about GGL not anything prior to it.

I have been seeing their progress and they keep playing better and better, said that on this premise, also, of course, I have been seeing gamer legion and they as well have been playing good, but it seems the last games have been being difficult, for the Spanish guy I am used to their sh't and no respect, what can we do about them

As I said: I was just talking about this event. And my comment rather prove yor point about their improvement rather than them not being good. A few months ago they would have to be absolute beasts to get this result. Now they got this result even though they weren't as good as they can be

How? They were far behind from the start and were expected to lose. Not really something we can call a choke in any way, shape or form

Lately they have been giving MVPs to the players that deserve them, last year was terrible, they would only give to the ones on the team that won, this year it has been better i would say

G2 is looking clicked in for some W's. GL really needs someone better than Dennis. He was a huge player in Nip and fantic. You got a very solid deal for him but it's not worth it. He's done at the middle level, and should have been cut before he took the break. The sooner he's gone, the faster you guys can climb.
