Liquid beat Cloud9; move on to BLAST Pro Series final

Liquid won Cloud9’s pick, Mirage, 16-8, before closing the series out on Inferno, 16-14, to clinch the first spot in the BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles final, where they will face the winner of FaZe vs. NRG.

The best-of-three semi-final pitting Liquid and Cloud9 started on Mirage, Damian "daps" Steele and company’s map pick, but it was Liquid who were able to take the early lead after winning the pistol round on the attacking side. Doubles by Tyson "TenZ" Ngo and Timothy "autimatic" Ta got Cloud9 on the board on the first gun round, but it was Liquid who went back to dominating the map early on, taking a 5-1 lead.

Cloud9 then managed to get another round on a forcebuy, but Liquid were quick to trade it to not let the CTs build up an economy. After 10 rounds, Liquid were ahead 8-2, but a failed play on the B site gave one more to Cloud9. The half ended 11-4 for for Liquid as Cloud9 were able to scrounge one last round thanks to TenZ’s Desert Eagle.

A fast A play gave Cloud9 a clean second pistol round as TenZ and Kenneth "koosta" Suen got a triple and a double, respectively. Up 12-8, Liquid won a forcebuy as Cloud9 couldn’t get out of the B apartments to inch closer to taking the first map of the series, which they were able to do after winning the rest of the rounds.

Liquid will play the final against the winner of FaZe vs. NRG

Liquid started off on the attack on Inferno, winning the first pistol round, but two entries by Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas and a double by koosta with a shotgun tied it up. Liquid were able to win the third round, however, to keep their lead after which they started to run away with it, once again not allowing Cloud9 to build an economy. Liquid then kept the pace, steamrolling the CTs by taking early map control and hitting sites with little opposition. Nick "nitr0" Cannella’s men had no opposition, going on to take a 9-1 lead after ten rounds before closing the half out 13-2.

Cloud9 won the second pistol round on the attack, and followed it up twice, making it 13-5, ahead of the first gun round. Three kills on Banana by autimatic and daps opened up the B bomb site for Cloud9 to get a fourth in a row. daps then won a 1vs1 against Keith "NAF" Markovic on an afterplant on A to make it 8-13, before winning against an eco to bring it within four rounds. Liquid then stopped a push through apartments and got on 14, but Cloud9 were able to trade the round to deny match point and get on double digits.

Liquid were finally able to get on match point, 15-12, but Cloud9 didn't give up, climbing back to 14-15. Ultimately, however, they were unable to culminate the comeback as Liquid sealed the deal in the 30th round.

No they'll go to top 50 since BLAST isn't considered a good or big enough LAN. Even though it's more impressive than ENCE's last results, HLTV doesn't make people jump after one event. Took liquid like 3 events to get to top 1; granted 400osh points behind.

if you open your eyes they were covering whole ggl tournament up to the moment when g2 reached finals which happened 5 hours ago. since then they have already won it and it had happened earlier than liquid c9

For their first match against the #1 team in the world. This C9 roster looks like it’ll be able to battle with the best of them once they’re solid. Even now they gave Liquid a run for the money on some of those rounds and the clinch on Inferno

How much I wish TenZ, daps, Twistzz and NAF would just join forces with WARDELL and make a respectable, competing all-Canadian team. It would be the first time since World Cyber Games 2001, where I can be proud to see a team of 100% Canadian champions. One day...
