FURIA, Sharks through to Americas Minor playoffs

FURIA and Sharks qualified for the Americas Minor playoffs after taking down Luminosity and Singularity, respectively.

The decider stage of the Americas Minor began with an all-Brazilian brawl featuring FURIA and Luminosity, with Vertigo kicking off the action. Luminosity had only played this map once, in an ECS victory over Liquid, but they showed that they were well prepared for their opponents' map pick, taking seven rounds on the offensive side.

FURIA came out of the break with fire in their bellies and won six of the opening seven rounds to get within touching distance of victory. Luminosity then put their foot down and held back their opponents for a bit, bringing the deficit to 12-14, but it would amount to nothing as one final push earned FURIA the map victory.

FURIA advance to the double-elimination playoffs

Ricardo "boltz" Prass came to Luminosity's rescue and racked up 21 kills as his team were in control during the vast majority of the first half of Mirage. It looked like the series could go the full distance, but FURIA ran all over the LG defense in the second half. The rounds Lucas "steel" Lopes's troops won were far an far between as they struggled with the pace of their opponents, who cruised to a 16-11 victory to book a spot in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Sharks and Singularity played out an intense three-map series in a rematch of Wednesday's single-map encounter. The Brazilians went again for a Nuke pick, which seems to be their go-to map at this event, but this time around they were completely out-played by the North Americans.

Singularity showed they had learned the lesson from their disappointing defeat on Wednesday and raced to a commanding 9-0 lead on the CT side after limiting the impact of Jhonatan "jnt" Silva, who had run riot in the previous encounter between the two sides. Sharks then finally woke up and found their footing, bringing the deficit to seven rounds before the break.

After switching over to the CT side, Sharks won a much-needed pistol following an intense 5v5 ramp battle. The Brazilians followed that up with the next two rounds, but then Singularity took control of the game and won seven consecutive rounds to lock down the map at 16-7.

Sharks move on to the playoffs at Singularity's expense

Sharks came out on Vertigo looking a completely different side and jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the defense. Singularity then enjoyed a spell of dominance, stringing three rounds together, before the Brazilians were back in control, with the half ending with a 10-5 scoreline.

Singularity knew they had a mountain to climb to turn it around, and things became even rougher for them after being shut down in the pistol round. One round was all that the North Americans could muster as Sharks kept the pace of the game high and quickly wrapped things up.

Leonardo "leo_drk" Oliveira went huge in the first pistol round on Train with a quad-kill, setting his team up for a 3-0 lead. Clutches from Renato "nak" Nakano and Raphael "exit" Lacerda in the early gun rounds allowed the Brazilians to snowball the game, with Singularity replying only in the dying stages of the half to bring the scoreline to 4-11.

Singularity came out strongly from the break and won six of the opening seven rounds of the second half, piling the pressure on Sharks' players. The Brazilian players would not let victory slip away, though, and secured the four rounds they needed to complete the reverse sweep in the series.

Luminosity just need to win that easy eco vs INTZ. Win eco, win match, win opportunity to play easy playoff vs. Sharks/Singularity and 99% guarantee Major spot. Just 1 damn eco yesterday. But they lost everything and eliminated from Minor. Typical Brazil. LUL

I´m not sure about this fact. But it´s not the question. The question is they have a lot of firepower and did this with a bit time of training (-1 week). INTZ was already training for a long and almost lost for them.

I don't think their training time matters anyway, LG would play the major with the same time of training as they were playing against INTZ. LG is better as a team but INTZ is better individually, they have more firepower. I was cheering for LG btw

Sorry, I didn't know major will be like in 1 month but they would play the minor with the same time, so doesn't makes much difference. I don't think they would qualify anyway.

The minor is already being played... I´m not understanding you. Luminosity would have good chances against Sharks. LG and Sharks would be a great match, 55/45 for Sharks, maybe. Then, they´ll have a month to train hard and evolve. The question is, they could be more dangerous than Sharks/INTZ with more on month of hardwork.

Even if they beat Sharks, they would have to play the Main Qualifier which I don't think they would've had chances to qualify.

The question is not if they would have chances to qualify in the Main Qualifier. The question is that Luminosity with one month of hardwork could be more dangerous than INTZ in the Main Qual.

Maybe, but do you know that they were in vacation days before the minor ? While INTZ was training, they're on vacation. Maybe INTZ deserved this spot.

Ofc I knew lul They were in vacation cuz they hadn´t the spot. They are substitutes for Lazarus. If INTZ somehow managed to win, they deserved the spot. I only saying that Luminosity had the chance to win against them and lost for a forced round. And saying that Luminosity would be more dangerous in the Main Qual than INTZ. Btw, I cheer for all BR teams.

The point was your flair/defending furia if they lose learn what choke means first (Sprout matches can help you.) And don't compare the teams based on hltv rating if it's that close.

I know what "choke" means, retard. I only saying that if FURIA defeat NRG, it won´t be cuz of a choke. Not possible to NRG choke against FURIA in this stage of the Minor. Even if they lose, they only have to win against Sharks and INTZ, then. If this NRG x FURIA was an elimination match, the choke could happens. In this case, no way. NRG losing against INTZ and Sharks, yes, only if a choke happens. Ranking is not the only parameter, but it´s one parameter. And in this case is totally acceptable, cuz the ranking of these teams is near of their performances. Both are in good momentum.

I see the luminosity better than INTZ, but they made many mistakes in the direct confrontation and lost many rounds of echo against the KNGv team, 2 maps ended in 16x14 for INTZ that ended up giving them the victory. although in my opinion, FURIA and NRG deserved much and guaranteed favoritism! NRG a little ahead of the fury, It will be a great game!
