forZe, DreamEaters through to playoffs at CIS Minor
With the best-of-one stages now behind us, the CIS Minor continued with the upper bracket finals, with two playoff spot on the line. forZe, one of the top favourites to progress to the Major, lived up to their billing as they dispatched Gambit Youngsters in two maps with an all-around team performance.
Both maps, Inferno and Dust2, were quite similar in that forZe picked up ten rounds on the Terrorist side thanks to very strong starts. Gambit Youngsters looked livelier as the games progressed, and on Dust2 they even managed to bring the deficit to a minimum after coming out of the break with fire in their bellies. However, forZe never looked in danger of losing their grip on the series and wrapped things up without letting their opponents reach double digits on either map.
Meanwhile, DreamEaters, who had caused the first big upset of the tournament by breezing past Spirit, continued their impressive run as they took down Warthox in a closely-contested two-map series. Svyatoslav "svyat" Dovbakh's troops enjoyed a dream start to the series as they raced to a 10-5 lead on the Terrorist side of Inferno, but left it late to snatch the victory as Warthox put up some resistance in the second half.
Warthox, who had stunned Nemiga earlier in the day, came out the livelier of the two sides on Overpass and took control of proceedings after a close first half, with Vladislav "minse" Kuzminykh raising eyebrows. It looked like the series would go the full distance, but DreamEaters tightened up their defence and went on a great run to seal the victory at 16-14.
