DreamEaters defeat INTZ to qualify for StarLadder Major
On their map pick of Overpass, DreamEaters overwhelmed the B bombsite to claim the Terrorist pistol and get off to a good start. Also key to getting a foothold in the map was Vladislav "Krad" Kravchenko, who clutched a 1v2 in the first buy, helping his team get a 5-1 lead.
INTZ then managed two retakes in a row, breaking the CIS side's economy and bringing the score back to 5-4. However, Krad found a total of four kills in a round where DreamEaters took control of the Bathroom area quickly, and with that, they went on to finish the half confidently, 9-6.
Igor "Forester" Bezotecheskiy and Svyatoslav "svyat" Dovbakh combined to clutch a 2v2 in the second half pistol, with the squad cleaning up the following two anti-ecos to go up 12-6. As Anton "speed4k" Titov showed up in the first rifle round with a hat-trick of kills, DreamEaters ran away with the lead and closed out the map swiftly, 16-6.
Forester showed up in the CT pistol on Mirage, grabbing three to secure the early lead on the second map and the continuation of the momentum from Overpass. INTZ managed to win the first rifle round, but as only one of their players stayed alive and DreamEaters struck back instantly with a round of their own, the Brazilian side was stuck in a bad spot.
Everything was going perfectly for DreamEaters on the CT side as they took an 8-2 lead off the back of some dominant round wins. INTZ managed a couple of their own, but were still unable to break the economy of their opponents which saw svyat and co. finish the half 12-3 up.
A triple from Alexandre "xand" Zizi got INTZ the CT pistol and a opened them a path back into the game, but with minimal investment, DreamEaters stole away the following round and got to match point (15-4) off their back of the economic advantage.
However, the Brazilians kept their heads above water by clutching a couple of close rounds, and after the score reached 15-7, Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe and co. looked dominant, shutting down the offenses of DreamEaters with ease, looking to force overtime. In the end, they managed to do so, and went 4-0 in the added rounds to streak 15 in a row, stealing away the map 19-15.
On Dust2, DreamEaters bounced back from their horrible showing on Mirage quickly, grabbing a 5-2 lead on the Terrorist side. INTZ then started to stabilize, bringing in the double AWP on the defense to go up 7-5. Before the end of the half, DreamEaters found success with A executes, but still ended it trailing by one, 8-7.
A successful A retake got DreamEaters back in the groove of things, with more successful retakes coming in for the CIS squad to see them take a 12-8 lead. Two confident round wins then came in for svyat's team, which they later followed up with an A site lockdown to reach match point, 15-11. Unlike on Mirage, where DreamEaters were unable to convert, on Dust2 they managed to close it out 16-12, taking the series 2-1.
