KOVA win Assembly Summer
The invitational tournament was played in a king-of-the-hill-style bracket, in which KOVA and Helsinki REDS were seeded lowest and thus met in the first round, with HAVU waiting in the second round and SJ in the grand final.
KOVA came out on top of the initial matchup, with Joonas "doto" Forss and Samu "uli" Leirilaakso leading the charge over the course of their wins in the three-map series to set up a meeting against Eetu "sAw" Saha & co.
The winning side continued their success on day two, securing a tightly-contested series against HAVU with an overtime victory on Dust2, this time spearheaded by uli and Lauri "pietola" Hietala, and a 16-13 triumph on Train.
Championship Sunday saw the tournament's surprise keep delivering, as SJ found themselves trailing 0-1 in the series after KOVA put up a dominant Terrorist side on Mirage to clinch the opener 16-11. Inferno followed with 16-year-old Nikita "Derkeps" Sirmitev taking up the mantle, leading his squad to nine rounds on the defense and a near-perfect offense, winning the series 16-7, 2-0.
