Lazarus qualify for ESL Pro League S10 Americas over Singularity

After beating Singularity 3-1 in the best-of-five pre-relegation final, Lazarus have qualified for ESL Pro League Season 10 Americas.

Singularity secured themselves a spot in the grand final thanks to victories over Lazarus and INTZ in the upper bracket of the pre-relegation tournament. Meanwhile, after losing their opening match to Singularity, Lazarus bounced back in the lower bracket and made their way to the grand final thanks to swift 2-0 victories over both Envy and INTZ.

Thanks to their upper-bracket run, Singularity started out the series with a 1-0 map advantage, but Lazarus wasted no time tying things up with a close battle on their opponents' own map pick, Train. After being down 0-4, Lazarus bounced back thanks to several stellar rounds from Gage "Infinite" Green and managed to close out the first half up 9-6. The second half was an all-out brawl, rounds going back and forth before Lazarus finally closed out the map in double overtime.

Infinite led the way for Lazarus against Singularity

After a long battle on Train, Lazarus were determined to win Inferno in a much simpler fashion as everyone stepped up for the team to end the first half with a dominant seven-round lead. Despite winning the second pistol round of the map and several of the following rifle rounds, Singularity would not be able to pull off a comeback as Lazarus’s defense proved to be just as deadly as their offense, closing out Inferno 16-11.

Up next was Vertigo and it was clear that Lazarus didn't plan on letting Singularity gain anything more than the map advantage they started the series with. After giving up four rounds to their opponents, Lazarus reached a turning point as they managed to shut down the T-side for the rest of the half, securing a 9-6 lead. Lazarus' firepower continued to rain down upon the players of Singularity going into the second half as they gave up just four rounds, closing out Vertigo 16-10 to reclaim a spot in ESL's showpiece league.

Imagine if C9 had signed this infinite kid instead of Jordan "I'm going to stretch my 15 minutes as long as possible" Montemurro. Because he looks like he's pretty fucking good and that kio/auti/flusha team was -one shit player and +one good player from making the playoffs last major. Still rather watch the new C9 then that one but Infinite looks ok and I hope he gets a decent chance somwhere at some point.

Now that I think about it, maybe Infinite would have been a good risk for C9 to take. However, I think the racial slur he said on LAN - that whole situation was something C9 probably wanted to avoid.

YOu know what though I never saw like a recording of this actually happening. Seemed to be hearsay mostly then him admitting and apologizing. I mean even if the kid admits it himself I think that actually speaks to character on some level. Everyone is a a racist asshole or just mean generally when they are that age. The stuff I said at 18 was fucking ridiculous. He's mature enough to apologize and out of these second tier talents he seems to be the best.

Yeah, these days, every time someone is trying to make it big, somebody else they played with in the past always brings stuff up on twitter or something. C9 would've risked some bad PR, but like you said, they potentially lost out on a good risk.
2019-08-17 23:46
Damn, I think any of the 4 teams - Envy, INTZ, ATK, and Singularity would do way better than Infinity in Pro League. Along with Infinity, DETONA and Isurus will probably get wrecked. Maybe they'll prove me wrong though, who knows. It's great to see new teams and all that, but if it's obvious that a team will get destroyed...meh. Nobody knows until they actually play.
