Krad: "It's like we're dreaming; we can't believe this happened"
The CIS side, who came from the Minor Play-In tournament, pulled through to the fifth round of the opening stage of the tournament and completed their huge upset run by taking down compatriots forZe in a 2-0 series.
After the victory, we got Krad's thoughts on the massive achievement in his and the team's career and got him to explain how the team got over their issues with closing out matches on Mirage, where forZe mounted a solid comeback attempt.
First of all, you only played your first Minor last month and now you're through to the top-16, tell me your initial thoughts on this achievement.
It's like we're dreaming. All of us can't believe this happened. We're very happy. We will celebrate this very, very hard, I think (laughs).
Did you at all expect that this was possible before you started your run at the Minors?
We didn't expect a result like that. We thought that we could go through the group at the CIS Minor and that our goals would change if we went through. Step by step we came to the top 16.
Yesterday you had a rough time against CR4ZY, losing a close series to them, this time you looked quite confident against forZe, what changed for today?
Against CR4ZY, it was a hard game for us. This opponent is not comfortable for us, their playstyle is very aggressive and we couldn't hold it. And that's why we lost against CR4ZY, I think. But today we had forZe, they have a different playstyle and it's comfortable for us, and our individual skill today was incredible.
You didn't play forZe for almost a year, but they are from the same region after all, did you have a good idea of what you were up against?
We played against them on qualifiers and it was always close matches. We know their playstyle from these times and we prepared a bit for them today, we checked some demos. We knew what they would do.
Throughout the tournament and even beforehand at the Minor you had some problems with closing out close games, today you managed to pull through despite a good comeback attempt from forZe, how did you get past that block this time?
This was happening because we don't have experience. But when we lost against INTZ from 15-4 to 15-19 we got experience from that, we analyzed that game, what went wrong. The problem was that we were thinking about winning, but today we knew this feeling and I told them in the timeout 'don't think about the win, we will lose this game like that, don't f*cking be nervous' and that's why we won it.
How do you think you will fare in the next stage, facing a new set of teams including the likes of Liquid and Astralis, does this give you confidence that you will be able to fare well?
It's hard to predict. I don't know, we will try to show our best individual and strategical game. I don't know, we will see.
