NRG outclass Liquid to go 2-0 in Berlin

Liquid endured an upset defeat to fellow North American side NRG, who are the first team through to the 2-0 pool of teams in the StarLadder Major's New Legends Stage.

NRG showed the potential of their star-studded line-up as they inflicted Liquid their first defeat since the 13-16 loss to North at the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals. The Intel Grand Slam Season 2 champions looked well off the pace on Dust2 - a map where upsets tend to happen quite often -, and there are very few positives for them to take from a game that could have had an even worse scoreline for them had Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski not come to the team's rescue towards the end of the first half.

A quad-kill by Nick "nitr0" Cannella with a USP made for a promising start for Liquid, but NRG replied in the blink of an eye with a successful force-buy and began to grind out rounds. The current No.1 team in the world struggled to keep up with the pace set by their opponents and were often forced into saves after losing a bombsite, leading to a tactical pause at 1-7.

Liquid improved after that timeout and tightened up their defense, with EliGE leading the charge. The 22-year-old put in 19 frags and averaged 116 damage per round to help the team to secure a respectable 6-9 scoreline.

NRG were far too hot for Liquid to handle

After switching over to the Terrorist side, Liquid won a much-needed pistol round, but just like in the first half there would be no follow-up on their part as Ethan "Ethan" Arnold wreaked havoc with three quick kills with the Five-SeveN. After getting their economy stabilised, Liquid began to chip away at NRG's lead, but their efforts were in vain. Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov was a joy to watch as he led his team to a convincing victory, one that will certainly give Liquid's players some food for thought as they chase their first Major crown.

Heres what happened, I have to explain everything to Yuropoors 1. NRG knew they are favored and wanted money 2. They bet on dreameaters and lost on purpose 3. They get triple the skins back or whatever, EZ $$$ 4. Proceed to shit on EU and CIS teams and ez 3-1

2019-08-29 18:41
Since you’re replying to that guy and you aren’t saying anything about the other hltv users on your first reply, yes, I assumed you were talking about the #1 guy. Btw, they didn’t drop a single match-up for 2 months, and not a single map, just saying. And yeah, I might be cheering for some fluke team who beat Liquid at the previous major, but I like their players, so idc what you say about Ence

2019-08-29 18:47
What? I think I’m hearing someone crying because Liquid didn’t win a map against ence at the previous major?
2019-08-29 18:49
Lmao I dont even care about that. I Didnt even watch CS back then kid. As soon as I start watching Liquid they dominate EU shitters lul. Perfect for me :>
2019-08-29 18:50
A new fag talking shit like that? Hahah, expected from Trump influenced burger brain, Liquid fans overhyped and they don’t even have a major yet
2019-08-29 18:52
"I didn't even watch CS back then kid" delusional
2019-08-29 19:40
How? I didn't see that match live or know what Liquid and ENCE were back then. I literally never cared about that match cause by the time I started watching, Liquid was already undisputed top 1. I just started watching in May. You got the poverty brain kid, cant even understand English
2019-08-29 19:43
If so, why do you act like you know a lot about cs anyway, in an other reply you’re stating the NiP streak was “barely” longer than the Liquid streak, which is 100% incorrect btw.
2019-08-29 19:54
lmao Liquid is #1 but you´re acting like they we´re dominant for years and had a big era. They dominated just a few months, not even astralis fans shittlaked that much when they had one of the greatest CS eras ever xD
2019-08-29 20:28
legendary?
2019-08-29 18:40
Uhh yea. Only NIP winstreak was longer (barely) and that was back when this was a dead game nobody played. Source and 1.6 literally had more players than CSGO back then. if NIP was in a competitive scene today with top teams such as NRG, Liquid, and C9, they wouldn't win a map.

There are two pretty good rules for betting on CSGO: 1.) Never bet on Favourites against unknown teams, high upset potential 2.) Never bet large amounts, especially not in a match that's even skill wise TL;DR - Only bet on strong teams vs. Washed up old teams or small amounts on upset teams. )))
