GG.BET Beijing Invitational announced

GG.BET and Maincast have announced their newest invitational tournament, with a spot at IEM Beijing on the line.

The tournament will be held from September 16-20 and will follow the same structure of previous GG.BET Invitationals, with a spot at the ESL event going to the winner and $5,000 to the runner-up as a consolation prize.

G2 and Heroic are the first two teams confirmed for the Beijing Invitational, with the remaining five invites to be announced closer to the start of the tournament. The eighth and last team will come from an open qualifier scheduled for this weekend.

G2 will attempt to qualify for IEM Beijing

The eight teams will be split into two double-elimination groups featuring best-of-three series after the opening round of matches. The top two sides from both groups will progress to the single-elimination, best-of-three playoffs.

Liquid and Astralis are already confirmed for IEM Beijing, where the semi-finals and the best-of-five title decider will be played in front of a crowd at the Beijing University Students' Gymnasium on November 8-9. The event will have $250,000 on the line and will count towards the third season of the Intel Grand Slam.

The team list for the Chinese event is the following:

I think it's huge waste to provide a spot for China and a spot for Asia. Only 8 spot at IEM Beijing , we want see more tier 1 team come to China rather than trash team like TYLOSE occupy the spot.

What's the point of having seperate Asia and China qualifiers if there's a 99% chance the teams playing in the Asia qualifier will be on Chinese servers anyways
