Astralis outclass NRG to meet AVANGAR in Major grand final

Astralis made short work of NRG in the second semi-final matchup as they secured a 2-0 victory to earn a spot in their third consecutive Major final.

A 1vs3 clutch by Nicolai "device" Reedtz opened things up for Astralis on Train, putting the Danes in control of the proceedings as further multi-kills from Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander allowed for a flawless streak of eight rounds on the defense. A triple kill by Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov was what finally cracked through Astralis' hold, but Xyp9x answered back in kind in the ensuing round to grant Astralis their ninth. Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte helped his team to fight back into the half, helping to secure four of the remaining five rounds in the half to reduce the deficit to 10-5 at halftime as Astralis moved over to the offense.

Three USP-S kills by Brehze at the start of the second half allowed NRG the opportunity to push up to a 10-7 scoreline, although the team fell to a Deagle buy from Astralis as the Danes remained dangerous. Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and company replied with two additional rounds as they continued to close the gap to 11-9, but Astralis remained in full control as they only conceded one final round on the road to a 16-10 finish.

Four Astralis members will look to grab their fourth Major title tomorrow

device secured himself another triple kill as Overpass got underway, creating an opening for Astralis to push up to a 3-0 lead to start. Multi-kill rounds by Brehze aided NRG in their effort to equalize the scoreline once they had rifles in their hands, but Astralis continued to batter the North American defense to keep NRG at bay. A seven-round streak from Astralis was finally put to a halt as Tarik "tarik" Celik secured himself a trio of frags to grant NRG their fourth, with the team managing to add a final round to their tally for another 10-5 halftime scoreline.

A pistol round victory in the second half put momentum in NRG's favour as they looked to repeat their efforts from Train to reduce the deficit, but a force-buy in the ensuing round by Astralis saw the Danish side immediately answer back and seize control from their opposition. Three kills from device countered NRG's own force-buy in the following round, while Emil "Magisk" Reif secured an anti-eco ace of his own as Astralis moved up to a 14-6 lead. A pair of triple kills by Brehze gave NRG their final chance to pursue a comeback, but Astralis were not to be denied as two final rounds went their way to close out the series with a 16-9 victory.

2019-09-08 10:32
I won't say that NRG choked. Astralis playes their cards right. Simply shutting Cerq out of the game, just like they did with Elige. He were rarely allowed to use the AWP to its fully effect. Meaning they only had to focus on 4 players in the hotzones rather than 5

No, that's not how it works. I am a mouz fan and wasnt like: "MOUZ BEST TEAM" after they went 2-1.. I was more like, :" hmm, the FaZe lose could really screw us, with bad luck we get Vitality and Liquid, both will most likely fuck us". All this "WE ARE THE BEST TEAM" is either people being delusional or people wanting to be cocky and trigger people. A real Fan knows the chances of His Team and Supports them No Matter If they lose or win.

Do you know what's the funniest thing? That no matter that NA is back in the garbage bin in terms of CS:GO talent and performance they will continue to bark and say that EU CS is trash. Even tho EU has around 11 or 12 majors while NA has one lucky fluke-ish major they will continue to be proudful for EXACTLY.NO.REASON.AT.ALL. Look at every single tournament - there are at least 4 EU teams making it to the play-offs while there are always 1 or maximum 2 NA teams which always fall in the end. Liquid are without a doubt the best NA team ever, but their time ended. Now they can't surprise anyone anymore.

What is Tarik going to say. “Yeah it doesn’t matter because we’re going to lose” Is there something wrong with being a little cocky especially when it comes to your team. Anyone in that situation especially after a win like that in the quarterfinals would say the same thing.

That's gonna be easy fourth mayor for the best team to ever assemble and play the game known as Counter-Strike Astralis-Offensive. The era that never ended. The amount of impact Stewie has in Liquid is irreplaceable. Also they have EliGE so their positions will overlap and Brehze will be moved to more supportive role. That's a waste

Device is proof to me that God doesn't exist. How can someone be so good with everything? Pistols, fucking your favorite team, rifles, punching monitors, awping etc. Its just not fair, how can anyone believe in God when Device exists? To top if off he looks like Tom Cruise, is rich as fuck and could have been a badminton pro if he wanted. But he just had to go into csgo, dick on everyone and ruin everyones faith in God. Thank you device.

2019-09-07 21:11
NRG ARE you serious after 2-0 in the GS they really throw it away like that gj tarik and co.
2019-09-07 21:13
In group stage Astralis threw hard. I think they limited their brain capacity to make an experiment. (Cuz sometimes they indeed looked braindead in train match)
2019-09-07 21:42
yeah could be (I didn't watch the semi-final).
2019-09-07 21:56
And then you decide to throw out punches at NRG on how they lost?

I have seen it afterwards and I was lucky, that my statement is backed up my comment, because they were lackluster..

2019-09-07 21:14
Brehze out fragged the top fragger of the winning team. Tough to watch :)
2019-09-07 21:14
Then you see that cerq (one of their best players mechanically) nofragged until round 4... Even tougher to watch. It's sad that the rest of the team didn't perform.
2019-09-08 01:49
Yes so sad. I’m gonna play with my Nintendo now.
2019-09-08 19:38
Tarik brought this loss on by himself. Why talk shit before you're team has accomplished anything? Especially before playing the team that's won the last two majors. I'm glad nrg lost.
2019-09-07 21:14
GG astralis, expectered. Ethan(!) and cerq need to perform better, it was all brehze pretty much which is not enough vs astralis obviously. Nice run for nrg anyway, lets see what future brings.

Nrg plays their best game when Brehze, Ethan and Cerq frag like mad. But Astralis are known for their ability to shutting down mad fraggers. They even made s1mple look like a DMG. Credit to Brehze, he is done an impressive job but it was not enough. Gg, wp.
2019-09-07 21:46
They need to clone Brehze.
2019-09-07 22:07
Indeed, just look on Overpass against Liquid. As soon as Elige started getting warm, they shut him out of the game. Elige was always on A, mostly on A long. They keep going B and if Elige showed up on B, they either smoked or mollyed him out of the fight. Astralis tactics at its best!

2019-09-08 05:54
You know what's most interesting? After all that trashtalk, after having been the best CS:GO team in history and then a team that could lose to basically any other high-level team, Astralis comes back for the easiest major win in history of CS:GO. gla1ve must be one of the very best IGLs in the world, no doubt. Plus, remember how Astralis wanted to kick dupreeh because Kjaerbye took his role, remember how they made dupreeh AWP? And then the best thing happened - Kjaerbye left by himself and opened a door to the greatest success for Astralis. You never know...
