erkaSt headlines new Mongolian team AUGUST
erkaSt had already confirmed at the StarLadder Major his plans to build a Mongolian team alongside ex-5POWER duo Gan-Erdene "dobu" Batbold and Batbayar "kabal" Bat-Enkh after being forced to leave Grayhound due to visa issues.
The trio will be joined by another well-known Mongolian player in Temuulen "Zilkenberg" Battulga. The 24-year-old, who was part of the TheMongolz roster that attended two Minors and three IEM events in 2016 and 2017, was enticed to come back from inactivity after almost two years on the sidelines.
Rounding out the roster is 19-year-old talent Uuganbayar "neuz" Nyam-Otgon, formerly of Storm Rider and TheMongolz. He took part in the East Asia closed qualifier for the most recent Asia Minor with Enkhtaivan "Machinegun" Lkhagva's squad, averaging a 1.17 rating as the team finished in 5th-6th place.
The players have already relocated to China, where they hope to start their journey to the top. And according to erkaSt, AUGUST's goal is to become "a top-two team in the Asia Pacific region in 2020 and make it to the New Challengers Stage" of a Major.
"When I knew about my exit from Grayhound because of the visa issues I talked with dobu and kabal immediately because building a Mongolian team with those two was something we had discussed for so long," the former Grayhound player told HLTV.org.
"Their contracts ended in August, which was perfect for us. Zilkenberg has been inactive for a while, but if we update him on the recent meta he can be a big asset to our team.
"neuz is the youngest and does not have that much experience, but he has a lot of motivation and is willing to improve himself, so we have big faith in him."
AUGUST, who will make their first appearance in the Chinese open qualifier for ESL Pro League S9 Asia relegation, which will kick off on Wednesday, have the following line-up:
Tuguldur "flynn" Gansukh (coach)
