Bahrain to host $500,000 BLAST Pro Series Global Final

BLAST Pro Series has announced Bahrain as the location for its Global Final, featuring a $500,000 prize pool.

The tournament will take place on December 13-14 and will be "the biggest esports event ever held in the region", according to BLAST Pro Series, which has partnered with the Bahrain Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to organize the competition.

The four best-performing teams of the BLAST circuit, according to a point system introduced this year, will travel to the island country located in the Persian Gulf for the Global Final, which will feature a single-elimination, best-of-three format.

The BLAST Pro Series season will end in Bahrain

Liquid are currently leading the BLAST Pro Series season leaderboard with 26 points, four more than second-placed Astralis. BLAST Pro Series Moscow, kicking off later on Friday, and BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, scheduled for November 1-2, will be the final chances for teams to earn points after the seventh regular stop of the season was canceled.

As it stands now, all seven circuit teams are still in the running for a spot at the Global Final, where the winning side will earn $350,000 and the title of BLAST Pro Series season champion.

"Bahrain is the perfect place to hold the 2019 Global Final," said Robbie Douek, CEO of BLAST Pro Series. "There is already a strong and engaged base of fans, an emerging scene of talented young players, and a country famed for its welcoming hospitality.

"We will be bringing four of the world’s best teams to battle it out for the chance to be crowned Champion.

"Gaming and esports are one of the most popular activities for young people across the world. It is highly-skilled, engaging and interactive. People connect across continents, they create friendships, work together, learn new skills, solve puzzles, focus on teamwork and have a lot of fun. We are looking forward to welcoming fans and their families to the event in Bahrain.”

Alright, I live in bahrain and trust me I know, not only 'non-muslims' can get alcohol, there are PLENTY of ways to get access to alcohol, a major event like this can get licensed and, I know people who are 15 and get access to alcohol, its not that hard. But, yes only public drinking is illegal.

Hoping to put some sense into HLTV people... + Bahrain is one of the most open-minded and liberal countries to visit in the middle east + There are thriving clubbing/nightlife (And yes, women are allowed too) + Beautiful architecture (Not as extensive as Dubai, but still very impressive + Bahrain hosts multiple sport events each year, including one of the largest Formula 1 races of the year + Crazy amount of luxury hotels, restaurants and tourist activities + Bahrain has been a Portuguese and British colony for longer than independant country of Bahrain has actually exited (Only about 48 years) The only (big) downside is that Bahrain isn't really known for their esport activities, and has no significant scene in CSGO. So while Bahrain is not your average Middle East country, and does not fit all your stupid stereotypes, I'm still not convinced that Blast Pro can fill an entire arena with fans.. But I look forward to go to Bahrain, once again, in December :-) Love from a Dane. Fun fact... Bahrain is not actually a middle-eastern country, but actually a part of Asia.
