Vitality to attend IEM Beijing

Vitality are the third team confirmed to attend IEM Beijing, ESL has announced.

The Chinese event looks to be one of the most stacked tournaments of the remainder of 2019, as the French side, currently ranked fourth on HLTV.org, joins No. 1 and No. 2, Liquid and Astralis, in the team list.

Vitality have recently finished 5th-8th at the StarLadder Major following a loss to AVANGAR in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Shortly after, the team announced the benching of one of its founding members, Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt, with his replacement — believed to be a choice between Richard "shox" Papillon and Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey by most accounts — still yet to be announced.

Vitality join Liquid and Astralis at IEM Beijing

IEM Beijing will take place in the Chinese capital on November 7-10, with the playoffs held at the Beijing University Students' Gymnasium. It will be the fourth tournament counting towards the ongoing Intel Grand Slam's third season after IEM Chicago, ESL One New York (September 26-29), and DreamHack Masters Malmö (October 1-6).

The team list for the $250,000 event currently looks as follows:

United States Liquid
France Vitality

Asia Asian qualifier

They can't take shox, because buyout is 700 000 $.. And kioshima is free agent.

Loooool
2019-09-14 10:58
would be so fucking stupid to pay 700k buyout for a washed up player when kio is available for fucking free lol
2019-09-13 12:43
Usually when a player comes for free they demand a higher salary/sign-on-fee but I guess Kio is in no position to demand much :P easy choice, go with kio

Yes, especially when they can't returned the money for buyout, except wining tournaments like Astralis.

It's not going to be Shox, his buyout is too high and they'd never get the money back if it flops, which it likely will given that NiP won so many tournaments in a row and barely got any money to cover for some of the expenses back in the glorious era. Their best bet is Kioshima and that is whom they will likely acquire instead of Shox.
