FaZe confirm coldzera signing
FaZe have completed the signing of Marcelo "coldzera" David from MIBR, the two organisations announced on Thursday.
The two-time player of the year finally inked a deal with FaZe after protracted talks between the two organisations, and will make his debut for the team on Thursday at ESL One New York.
In the European team, coldzera will finally fulfill his dream of playing alongside Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, who is expected to become the in-game leader once again after admitting in an interview with HLTV.org that he could pick up the baton "if that is what the team needs".

The Brazilian player follows Helvijs "broky" Saukants as FaZe's second post-Major reinforcement, helping to fill the gaps left by the departures of Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács and Filip "NEO" Kubski. The Latvian player, formerly of Epsilon, is currently on trial and will play with the team at least until the end of the ESL Pro League Season 10 group stage.
"I'm really excited to be part of this great organization and I'm looking forward to playing with these guys," coldzera wrote in an Instagram post.
"Thank you for everything, MIBR. We had some great memories together and I always cherish that. Now it is going to be a new challenge and I going to give my best to make it work.
"To my Brazilian fans: even though I am no longer in a Brazilian team, I will always represent each and every one of you."
This will be the first international challenge of coldzera's career. He rose to notoriety in 2015 after joining Luminosity and played a vital role as the team won a series of international titles in the following two years (first under the North American organisation and then under SK), including back-to-back Major titles at MLG Columbus and ESL One Cologne.
He became the second player in Counter-Strike history to be named player of the year on two occasions, beating his now teammate NiKo for the honor in 2017.
The team went through a trophy-dry spell between 2018 and the summer of 2019, prompting coldzera to request to be moved to the bench - a thought he had already entertained in the past. He suggested playing three more events with MIBR, including the StarLadder Major, but the team rejected that possibility and chose to play with coach Wilton "zews" Prado instead.
Two weeks ago, coldzera played his first tournament since leaving MIBR as he attended Belgrade Open #3, a Serbian LAN, alongside NiKo and coach Janko "YNk" Paunović. The team, called iNation, ended up being eliminated in the quarter-finals by eventual champions BLUEJAYS.
coldzera is already in New York with the rest of the squad as he prepares to play his first match in a FaZe jersey, against NRG. Astralis and OpTic make up the rest of Group B for the North American event, where $200,000 will be on offer.
With coldzera's addition, FaZe now have:
Håvard "rain" Nygaard
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer
Marcelo "coldzera" David
Helvijs "broky" Saukants (trial)
Janko "YNk" Paunović (coach)
