5POWER qualify for StarSeries i-League Season 8 over TYLOO

5POWER have qualified for StarSeries i-League S8 after besting TYLOO 2-1 in the upper bracket final.

TYLOO found their place in the upper bracket final with flawless victories over AUGUST and Invictus. On the other side of the bracket, 5POWER took down Lynn Vision and JiJieHao in dominant fashion to set up the upper bracket final matchup.

5POWER are the first qualified team for StarSeries i-League S8

The series kicked off on Dust2, 5POWER's map pick, where the Chinese side opened their series account with a map win, with Bin "Savage" Liu leading the charge. The squads then faced off on Inferno, with TYLOO storming to an 11-4 advantage at the halfway mark. Despite a valiant attempt from 5POWER, a comeback could not be pulled off as they conceded the map 13-16.

Overpass played host to the decider and the two sides once again duked it out in a closely-contested map, but 5POWER eventually emerged victorious, with numerous multi-kills from Lei "bottle" Mao helping secure a 16-13 score, and a 2-1 series win.

Falling to the consolidation final, TYLOO have forfeited the second-place match due to a clash with the travel day ahead of DreamHack Masters Malmö, where the Chinese side will compete starting October 1, which means the winner of the lower bracket final between EHOME and Invictus will determine who claims the other Asian spot at StarSeries.

The $500,000 tournament will span from October 21-27, with the team list looking as follows:

Why the hell does Asia get two slots but Europe only gets one? And then there’s not even an NA qualifier, just a slot for the winner of some Tier 10 Brazil event.

i thought because famous EU/NA teams will directly invited.
2019-09-28 19:11
It’s just 16 slots though. Sure Liquid and EG will get invites but there won’t be enough slots for all the prominent EU teams. Meanwhile 5Power, another random Asian team, and a Tier 10 SA team get 3 of the 16 slots.
