Evil Geniuses ease past G2; to face Astralis in ESL One New York final

Evil Geniuses defeated G2 2-0 (16-8 Dust2, 16-7 Nuke) in the semi-final of ESL One New York, booking their spot in the grand final.

Evil Geniuses replied to François "AmaNEk" Delaunay's double entry in the pistol to claim the first round on Dust2 as Terrorists, going up 6-0 before G2 managed to win their first round. The Frenchmen were struggling on the defense, managing only sporadic rounds until Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey's 1v2 clutch in round 13, which seemingly inspired G2 to go on a three-round streak and end the half 10-5 down.

After the switch, Evil Geniuses looked back on track as they retook A on a pistol, but G2 bounced back to 11-8 after winning a force buy and following ecos. However, the North American side secured a clean first buy round and a magnificent round by Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov followed, as the Bulgarian took down three with the AWP to salvage a 3v5 situation. After that, Evil Geniuses quickly closed out Dust2, 16-8, moving onto their map pick of Nuke.

Evil Geniuses made the playoffs in New York

On the second map, Evil Geniuses brought over their momentum from the first one. Following a successful Terrorist pistol, the North Americans grabbed the first and subsequently the second gun round, the latter coming off the back of another impressive CeRq play.

The score was 8-0 before G2 mustered their first by winning duels across the map, but they couldn't repeat that in the following round which resulted in their bank being broken. Evil Geniuses extended their lead up to 10-1 before, spearheaded by Lucas "Lucky" Chastang, G2 started locking down the A site.

G2 managed to end the half with four rounds and started working towards a comeback by claiming the Terrorist pistol and the following two rounds (11-7), but they were no match for Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and co. with rifles, who capped off the map swiftly, 16-7, taking the series 2-0.

shox was also the coach? had no idea about that, i thought he was just igl in some maps...
2019-09-29 10:20
coach doesnt set the team roles unless he is asked to take that much control, he analyses opponent teams for their habits and possible exploits. its the igl that sets the roles and why karrigan is considered one of the best at it finding best role and positions for his teammates to be most effective.

Didn't even watch the clip, and I can easily say (since I watched live) that's bullshit. You straight up know before the game starts that if someone makes a sneaky move it's gonna be useless due to the crowd. That's takes a lot out of the players to do sneaky plays. It affects the game directly, so fuck that noise

What does the " NA " meme have to do with the fact that retarded fans were shouting the bombsite or players's position during clutches ? Nothing, yeah, that's what I thought ;-) Astralis won the major easily though, so there goes "NA"

2019-09-29 03:49
they're better i think, i mean sure they still lost but shox wasnt good
2019-09-29 04:29
I think Shox has chance in VItality to become a star again but it all depends on his own motivation and willingness to invest a lot of his time back into the game. He has been a top player from Source up until 2017 i'd say, never count this guy out he is a legend.
2019-09-29 05:02
its funny because i can look at any team hes in or about to join and tell you they will do bad. in like the last 4 years he hasnt had any success lol
2019-09-29 05:03
Not true in 2016 for example he had shit team and still achieved some victories and was in top 20 players, So maybe 2 years he hasn't been consistent but he's way better than NBK in every aspect and can play a way larger variety of roles in the team than NBK could. This all depends on his commitment at this stage in his career, the guy is unbelievably skilled in CS but his motivation is missing.
2019-09-29 05:07
nbk and shox are literally stealing checks now, both should retire they will never be good again
2019-09-29 05:10
Maybe that statement holds true for NBK but not for Shox, NBK was never a top player in his career, he's a decent role player at his peak and nothing more. Shox is actually a god.

You are a clown. NBK is an incredibly skilled and versatile player. Next to that he is always motivated and a really hard worker. Also: nbk was never a top player in his career? Since you mentioned css regarding shox... nbk was a supercarry next to rpk in the french teams. He won more than shox aswell in both css and csgo. Shox is an amazing star player if he is in form, decent at lurking. Other than that he never made anything work.
2019-09-29 10:17
No matter what you say Shox > NBK in literally every aspect of esport ever.
