Brehze wins ESL One New York MVP award

Evil Geniuses star Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of ESL One New York 2019 by HLTV.org and betway.

The 21-year-old led his team to their first-ever Big Event title with a 1.25 rating in the four-map series against Astralis to leave the Barclays Center with a 1.29 tournament rating, the highest overall.

His grand final display ultimately saw him edge out teammate Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov in the race for the MVP award as he outperformed his Bulgarian teammate on the three maps that Evil Geniuses won, Inferno, Dust2 and Nuke.

Brehze wins his second MVP medal, his first at a Big Event

Besides leading the tournament's rating charts, Brehze was ranked first for KDD (+70) and kills per round (0.84). He was also among the best performers in seven other stats categories, including ADR (84.2), percentage of rounds with at least one kill (53.0%) and headshots per round (0.46).

Brehze now has his second MVP award - he won his first at cs_summit 3, in November 2018, which was not a Big Event. He has averaged an impressive 1.21 rating on LAN this year (1.18 at Big Events) to put himself in firm contention for his first entry into a Top 20 players of the year list.

wow but why is it a big event? isn't a big event defined by having a $250k+ prize pool?
2019-09-30 01:53
by that logic WESG 2016 would be more important that the majors. And even with 1.5 million dollars none count that event as a top tier one because had a weak teams' list. This is a big event because of the teams attending, format and stuff like that (._.)_b

He has averaged an impressive 1.21 rating on LAN this year (1.18 at Big Events) to put himself in firm contention for his first entry into a Top 20 players of the year list. So this means he will get top15?
2019-09-30 01:54
top 10 probably NRG/EG have been great all year and brehze always the big impact player for them, has a higher rating than naf and twistzz and picked up a win and a MVP. imo hes 6th in the world right behind NAF and above twistzz
2019-09-30 02:02
maybe top5 for him if he keeps going.
2019-09-30 02:23
yeah, its all about how EG do in the coming months
2019-09-30 02:23
Naf top5? Whatever you're smoking, I want some
2019-09-30 03:26
in terms of statistics MVP's ratings tournament wins he is More MVP's than Twistzz this year higher impact in the last 6 months by a lot same rating higher ADR in the last 6 months by a lot same tournament wins brehze has only 1 win, same rating, a bit higher impact and only 1 mvp NAF is statistically better than the people below him... idc how flashy twistzz or magisk or brehze are. The numbers dont lie...
2019-09-30 04:16
Just double checked, NAF has better opening kill stats as well. along with 82 ADR compared to twistzz 76 and this year overall has a 1.13 impact vs 1.08 impact of twistzz Twistzz does have .2 more kpr and 2% better KAST but its very miniscule... His K/D is amazing but K/D means almost nothing when we have rating... Brehze is statistically a bit better, but his lack of trophies and MVPs is what is holding him back...

>Shat the bed at this event > Highest rated player for TL at the event bruh... I KNOW, that he did throw a few clutches in the astralis game, but he was carrying on overpass, and if he wasnt fragging so hard for most of the map, they wouldnt have even gotten that close. for most of the event he was doing great, he outperformed ElIGE again and twistzz

Agree but Elige >>> everyone in NA in 2019
2019-09-30 20:52
Yep, hes going god mode this year... though interestingly NAF seems to be highest rated player for TL the last 3 months, above ElIGE, which is scary imo, having ElIGE and NAF and Twistzz all going off at the same time is a recipe for anal destruction

close, he needs another MVP or two and a few more tournament wins IMO. right now hes around 5-7 with naf and twistzz and its currently 5. NAF (2 mvp 7 wins great rating) 6. Brehze (1 mvp 1 win amazing rating (godlike impact)) 7. Twistzz (1 mvp 7 wins great rating) could change

2019-09-30 02:15
I know, ill be updating my current list constantly in the coming months to keep up with all the tournaments and results. The current one I have is 1. ZyWOo (3 MVP's 2 Wins and a Godlike rating 1.27) 2. ElIGE (3 MVP's 7 Wins and a amazing rating 1.21) 3. s1mple (1 MVP 1 Win and a Godlike rating 1.29) 4. Device (2 MVP's (1 major) 3 Wins and a amazing rating 1.22) 5. NAF-FLY (2 MVP's 7 Wins and a great rating 1.18) 6. Brehze (1 MVP 1 Win and a great rating 1.18 he also has much more impact than twistzz) 7. Twistzz (1 MVP 1 Win and a great rating 1.18 but lower impact than the other two above) 8. Magisk (1 MVP (major) 3 Wins and really good rating 1.17) 9. Electronic (0 MVP 1 Win and amazing rating 1.22) 10. Sergej (0 MVP 1 Win and solid rating 1.13 also has been very good in big matches) Rating is all big events in 2019

currently i dont have a better candidate, as he has been performing in playoffs all year, JKS and NiKo have higher ratings, but JKS doesnt always get to playoffs and NiKo has been garbage the last few months and looks to continue his horrible form. sergej is the next highest rated.

youtu.be/kiqfC7WKsNQ?t=2164 Brehze point of view. He goes from looking to one side of the new box to where xyp9x is without checking the other side of the new box first and doing prefire, and xyp9x is between both sides, not on the new box corner, not in the wall corner or not behind boxes were he was before. Plus he have enough time to go and check one by one.
