DreamEaters lose roster

The DreamEaters roster has parted ways with the organisation effective immediately, the players have confirmed to HLTV.org.

The news was broken by Anton Vinogradov, DreamEaters' CEO, who revealed in a TwitLonger post that the organisation ran into severe money problems in the spring, resulting in salaries being often paid late.

Mr. Vinogradov added that "all outstanding salaries except May" had been paid out and that the organisation had offered to take a cut out of their StarLadder Major sticker percentage to settle the outstanding debts. The players, however, opted to collect the entire sticker sum while forfeiting the prize winnings from their recent tournaments to the organisation - with the two amounts being "almost the same", according to the CEO.

A list of issues is behind the team's decision to part ways

The DreamEaters chief noted that he wants further compensation, explaining that the players were fully supported by the organisation while preparing for the CIS Minor and for the Major, and vowed to contact tournament organisers to ask that the team not be allowed to compete until the situation is resolved.

Tension between DreamEaters and the team had already threatened to boil over after the players had revealed to HLTV.org that they were weighing up their options in light of coach Aleksandr "zoneR" Bogatiryev's removal without the team's consent.

HLTV.org reached out to Svyatoslav "svyat" Dovbakh for a comment on the matter. The team captain admitted that the relationship with DreamEaters has reached a breaking point and stressed that the players want nothing to do with the organisation.

"1. Contractual obligations were not fulfilled (3-4 month delays on wage and prize money payments, in addition to unpaid wages from five months ago)
2. Negative interactions between the organisation and the team
3. The dismissal of our coach after productive results at the Major, contrary to the team's opinion

After a long and detailed conversation among the team, due to the above-listed reasons we have made the decision to part ways with this organisation and sever our contracts. Despite the situation, we are ready to forfeit our prize winnings, which we have yet to receive (CIS Minor, Berlin Major, the Tricolor showmatch and Games Clash Masters 2019) in favour of the CEO, a sum that exceeds his share of the sticker money. This decision was made for one simple reason: we would like to discontinue any further dealings with this organisation."

The ex-DreamEaters is currently taking part in WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 and in the European Champions Cup. Next week, the team will fly out to the Netherlands to compete at DreamHack Open Rotterdam 2019, where $100,000 will be on offer.

The following six individuals no longer represent the DreamEaters organisation:

Russia Semyon "kinqie" Lisitsyn
Russia Svyatoslav "svyat" Dovbakh
Russia Vladislav "Krad" Kravchenko
Russia Anton "speed4k" Titov

"The DreamEaters chief noted that he wants further compensation, explaining that the players were fully supported by the organisation while preparing for the CIS Minor and for the Major, and vowed to contact tournament organisers to ask that the team not be allowed to compete until the situation is resolved." Ummmm... Supporting your players is your fkin JOB as an organization... You're going to try to grab money from the players whom you haven't even been PAYING properly yourself?? And attempting to sabotage the players and stop them from playing once they leave your org?? What a shitty organization/CEO. Edit: Gran --> Grab

exactly! In the tweetlonger post the org said that they gave monitors, 240 hz! to the players ROFL! what a pity! If you are stupid and don't fucking know how to structure your organization and how to build a successful business model for a gaming org, then GTFO!

I totally agree! It's their job to provide: Place to practice/bootcamp Manager Food Travel and hotel expenses (most of the time tournament organizers pay for it) Org gets money from: Prize money (certain %) Sponsorships Other crap like merch, sticker money, temporary colabs and etc (how I know? used to work in AVG) PS I don't like that org

arrogant CEO that has no clue how to get sponsors and he likes to fire people without a reason, as for the team and analyst, they seemed like cool guys
2019-10-08 14:44
xddd the players just give the org all price money as goodbye-present and that scumbag ceo idiot just demands more, this guy belongs to prison
2019-10-08 07:50
You still can see it in the POV of Cr4zy CEO who says that the Clans need to get money from investors cuz prize money is the players' money. But a Clan offer a salary pays the tournaments attendings etc. If you wanna have a stable scene you should aks is this okay that the teams get a big salary and 95-100% of the prizemoney. It is a circle and so many teams will have what Dreameaters have right now. But sure this a thing that has to be clear before you buy a team and players. So, in this case, you are right but I think it is a discussion worth to talk about is status quo the only and best way?

They advanced from the challenger stage, so that is where they will be. No minor attendance required.
2019-10-08 01:42
In new format (since Katowice or London), you have to at least go 1-3 in order to maintain challenger spot, or else you will move back to minors

False teams that finish 0-3 in the legends stage will be relegated back to the minor 1-3 and 2-3 teams in the legends stage aswell as all 8 champions stage teams have major spots, rest minor
2019-10-08 02:26
True, but it's kinda bullshit since they fought hard to get to that stage

Yeah and then no one ever hear them anymore. So whats the point give spots for teams who really can stay in proscene.
2019-10-08 11:19
well it helps developing the scene a bit. i mean check out boombl4, he came from QBF and is now leading NaVi. i agree that most teams disappear in the CIS darkness afterwards but there are always standout players that can use the major cycle to kickstart their pro career

Whatever sponsors they can get including betting sponsors (helps if they attend lans to put on shirts etc.), maybe take part of the winnings. Small team salaries are probably a couple thousand max. Also if team is good at scouting they can sell players for better teams. Epsilon did a pretty good job in the past

Depends on the team. Gambit for example have a cellular provider as a major sponsor. Winstrike are owned by a computer club/esports arena company of the same name. For many finding sponsors to fork over 2k a month per player is never really difficult.

Imagine being such a shitty org that your players leave it even after you don't give them their money.
