DreamEaters lose roster
The DreamEaters roster has parted ways with the organisation effective immediately, the players have confirmed to HLTV.org.
The news was broken by Anton Vinogradov, DreamEaters' CEO, who revealed in a TwitLonger post that the organisation ran into severe money problems in the spring, resulting in salaries being often paid late.
Mr. Vinogradov added that "all outstanding salaries except May" had been paid out and that the organisation had offered to take a cut out of their StarLadder Major sticker percentage to settle the outstanding debts. The players, however, opted to collect the entire sticker sum while forfeiting the prize winnings from their recent tournaments to the organisation - with the two amounts being "almost the same", according to the CEO.
The DreamEaters chief noted that he wants further compensation, explaining that the players were fully supported by the organisation while preparing for the CIS Minor and for the Major, and vowed to contact tournament organisers to ask that the team not be allowed to compete until the situation is resolved.
Tension between DreamEaters and the team had already threatened to boil over after the players had revealed to HLTV.org that they were weighing up their options in light of coach Aleksandr "zoneR" Bogatiryev's removal without the team's consent.
HLTV.org reached out to Svyatoslav "svyat" Dovbakh for a comment on the matter. The team captain admitted that the relationship with DreamEaters has reached a breaking point and stressed that the players want nothing to do with the organisation.
"1. Contractual obligations were not fulfilled (3-4 month delays on wage and prize money payments, in addition to unpaid wages from five months ago)
2. Negative interactions between the organisation and the team
3. The dismissal of our coach after productive results at the Major, contrary to the team's opinion
After a long and detailed conversation among the team, due to the above-listed reasons we have made the decision to part ways with this organisation and sever our contracts. Despite the situation, we are ready to forfeit our prize winnings, which we have yet to receive (CIS Minor, Berlin Major, the Tricolor showmatch and Games Clash Masters 2019) in favour of the CEO, a sum that exceeds his share of the sticker money. This decision was made for one simple reason: we would like to discontinue any further dealings with this organisation."
The ex-DreamEaters is currently taking part in WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 and in the European Champions Cup. Next week, the team will fly out to the Netherlands to compete at DreamHack Open Rotterdam 2019, where $100,000 will be on offer.
