mousesports and FaZe win first ESL Pro League matches

mousesports started their ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe run with a 2-1 victory over BIG, while FaZe beat OpTic 2-0.

The ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe group stage kicked off in London with a match pitting rival German organizations mousesports and BIG followed by a bout between FaZe and OpTic.

The match started on Train, BIG’s map pick, where they were able to take the lead winning the T-side pistol round. The European combine managed to win the second round, however, keeping BIG at bay. Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and company managed a decent six rounds on the side but were then unable to put forth a strong CT side despite winning four out of the first five rounds in the second half, with mousesports eventually taking it 16-13 on the attacking side.

woxic & co. were able to close out the match on Inferno

BIG put forth an incredible effort on the attacking side of mousesports’ map pick, Dust2, winning 11 out of the first 12 rounds, giving up only two more rounds before the half for a 12-3 partial. Finn "karrigan" Andersen and company made a last-ditch effort winning the pistol round and the three following rounds, padding the results, but with guns in hand BIG won four out of five rounds to seal the deal, 16-7, and force the match into the decider, Inferno.

mousesports took an 8-0 lead on the T-side of Inferno before a hero AWP in Owen "smooya" Butterfield’s hands could get BIG on the board, prompting his side to win five more rounds to make it a close 6-9 half. After winning the second pistol round, BIG managed to bring it all the way back to a 9-9 tie. Both teams stayed neck-and-neck, going up 1-1, but it was finally mousesports who were able to close out map and match, 16-12, to score their first victory.

FaZe were first out of the gate on the CT side of Nuke, OpTic’s map pick, winning the pistol round and six out of the first seven. OpTic were then able to score two, but it was the European combine who were able to set the tone on the defense as the Danish side couldn’t find their footing in the first half as they went down 4-11. OpTic bounced right back on the defensive side, winning pistols and linking six rounds in a row to hit double digits, but it was finally FaZe who were able to cross the 16-round line first, 16-12, to bag Nuke.

olofmeister had a great showing on T-side Mirage

OpTic start Mirage off ahead, but it was once again FaZe who took the reins early on, setting the pace on the attacking side with an impressive Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer leading the way to a 10-5 lead at the half. A smoke defuse by FaZe kept the momentum going in the second half, but a B strike on a forcebuy by OpTic kept the Danes in the run. After hitting double digits, however, they started to deflate as FaZe once again took control, shutting it down in the 27th round, 16-11.

FaZe doesn't really look on point, they really struggled against Optic with a stand-in. I don't think they will beat BIG and mouz. Sad! -bullyzera

If u watch the whole 2 maps u could see that they were unlucky with the timings and the positions overall, the most important point u can take from this series is that they started to build up as a team, getting some cohesion and teamplay, rotations, tradekills etc, the rest will come with more practice and winning
2019-10-09 01:09
Nah their t side on nuke was atrocius. It was all over the place, team cohesion was nowhere to be found. They saved with 4 guys alive coz they ran out of time once niko died. Their strats literally relied on one lurker getting an entry on other side of map. I m a faze fan but sadly they don't look good yet.

Mirage T side looked better although that could be just Optic CT side being garbage. They basically gave up mid every round without taking efective control of other parts of the map
2019-10-09 09:37
True optic ct side wasnt good. They applied no pressure in mid as cts.

Good job faze, i can see the passion now, teamplay on point, tradekills, crispy aim , looking forward to see them play versus an actual team
2019-10-09 01:04
Crispy aim yes. Teamplay on point, sadly not yet.
2019-10-09 07:40
But it looks like it is improving. With previous roster team play was still shit after months together. Now we've seen an evolution from the previous tournament they played (NY iirc) and this, and it was less than 2 weeks ago. If they keep doing things right and NiKo finds the equilibrium between being igl and good player they can be top.

2019-10-09 01:05
If faze played more like a team, not invidual performances, they would set NikoGOD on entry, he is back with his insane aim
2019-10-09 01:10
NiKo needs to be alive for the mid-rounds, that's where he's always had the most impact. They need rain/broky as entry

FaZe has lots of problems there even tho OpTic played with stand-in. They have to make a huge improvement if they don't want to stay aside top 10. Talking of first match between mousesports and BIG, it was great to watch and unexpectedly BIG managed to pull off decent rounds. Anyway, gratz to ChrisJ and the rest for performing better. Hope to see amazing matches today!
