MIBR remain undefeated in ESL Pro League; Envy pick up first win at FURIA's expense

MIBR made short work of Swole Patrol with a 2-0 win on the second day of ESL Pro League Season 10 Americas, while Envy edged out a 2-1 series victory over FURIA.

The final round of matchups now has the potential to result in three teams finishing the group with 2-1 records, with MIBR looking to defeat FURIA in their final matchup to avoid the situation and remain undefeated.

After securing a 2-0 victory over Envy in their first matchup on Tuesday, MIBR were looking to repeat the result in their game against Swole Patrol. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and company got things started on the right foot, winning five rounds in a row on their opponent's pick of Vertigo before a pistol buy allowed Swole Patrol to reply with three rounds of their own. A triple kill from Fernando "fer" Alvarenga put MIBR back in control, allowing them up to a 9-3 lead before Swole Patrol won another trio of rounds to close out the half.

FalleN took the lead in more ways than one for MIBR on Vertigo

Four rounds went the way of MIBR following the side swap, putting them in touching distance of match point. Another three-round spree from Swole Patrol briefly kept the Brazilians at bay, but it was not enough to complete the comeback as FalleN helped his side swiftly bring the opening map to an end with three final rounds to take Vertigo 16-9.

Swole Patrol's struggles continued on Mirage as MIBR kicked things off by taking six rounds on the offense. A handful of multi-kill rounds from Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker and Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro gave Swole Patrol the chance at a comeback as they reduced the deficit to 5-10 at the half, but the swap to the offense saw the North Americans fare no better as MIBR gave up only one additional round on the road to a 16-6 map victory.

FURIA took on Envy in the other Group A matchup, with Noah "Nifty" Francis helping his side take an early 2-0 lead on Nuke after grabbing a quad kill in the first pistol round. FURIA were quick to bounce back once they had rifles in their hands, taking six rounds in a row before Envy were able to halt the streak to take a trio of rounds in reply.

FURIA continued to put up rounds to pull ahead 9-6 at the half, and although Envy added another two to their tally with another pistol victory, the Brazilians only conceded one last round before closing their opponent's map pick 16-9.

yuurih and arT combined to help FURIA take Nuke with ease

A triple kill by Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo opened things up for FURIA as the team took five out of the first six rounds of Mirage. Envy fought back for three, but a Deagle 1vs3 clutch by Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato put momentum back in the favour of FURIA as the Brazilians controlled the majority of remaining rounds in the half for a 10-5 scoreline.

The side swap proved to be beneficial for Envy, who quickly took the lead by winning seven of the first eight rounds on the offense after continuing to punish FURIA's aggression. A battle late into the half had both teams tied up at 14-14, but it was Envy who came out ahead to edge out a 16-14 victory and push the series to a deciding map.

Envy started on the CT-side as Vertigo got underway, winning four of the first five rounds to post an early lead. FURIA were unrelenting however, continuing to batter Envy's defensive setups to only lose two more rounds in the half, allowing them another three round lead at the half.

A pistol win and a converted anti-eco had FURIA up 11-6 before Envy began clawing back, equalizing the score with five rounds in reply. Three kills from VINI on a pistol buy was what finally got FURIA back on the board, with the two teams beginning to trade rounds back-and-forth to reach 14-14. In identical fashion to Mirage, Envy pulled through in the final moments of the map to secure a second 16-14 win, narrowly edging out a 2-1 series victory.

MIBR will face off against FURIA in an effort to end Group A with a flawless record, a finish which would also earn them a spot at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals in Odense. Swole Patrol will look to notch their first win against Envy, a victory that would prove crucial in avoiding playing in Relegation at the end of the season.

lol you probably dind't checked why furia is higher than other teams , they just are playing more matches ,if mibr played the same tournaments that furia they will be placed higher.... You can just go and check it for yourself.
2019-10-10 21:13
If mibr would play more they’d be just further down on the list (prob out of top20) lol
2019-10-10 21:16
maybe , we dont know... I just dont see furia better than MIBR , even with they win against MIBR , I think the major shows that.
