Renegades defeat fnatic to advance to upper bracket final at StarSeries

Renegades have booked themselves a spot in the Group A upper bracket final against Vitality following a 2-0 victory over fnatic.

The second Group A upper bracket semi-final matchup at StarSeries i-League Season 8 saw Renegades up against fnatic, with the series kicking off on Mirage. Double kills for Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin in each of the first four rounds were not enough to net his side any points on the board, leaving Renegades to run up a 4-0 lead.

The Deagles of Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist combined to give the Swedish side their first inroads into the map, but a triple kill from Aaron "AZR" Ward kept Renegades in control as they extended their lead to 9-1. A resurgence from Maikil "Golden" Selim's men towards the end of the half had fnatic add three of the remaining rounds to their tally, reducing the deficit to 11-4 at the side swap.

A pistol victory for Renegades allowed them to swiftly push up to a 14-4 scoreline before fnatic were able to take two for themselves, with a trio of frags from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad in reply immediately putting the Australian side on match point. Three rounds from fnatic gave the Swedes the chance to begin a comeback effort, but a quartet of kills from jkaem as a part of a trigger-control 1vs3 clutch gave Renegades the opening they needed to close things out 16-9.

Multi-frag rounds from jkaem helped Renegades take the series

Renegades maintained their momentum on to Inferno, where another 4-0 start on the offense gave AZR's side early control of the proceedings. fnatic's first round win was responded to by Renegades, but a triple kill from flusha kept fnatic in the running as they fought to stabilize. Four kills apiece from KRIMZ and Golden aided fnatic in their effort, seeing the Swedes keep Renegades at bay to drop only a single additional round in the half for a 9-6 lead.

The fourth pistol round of the series also went the way of Renegades, with the team taking the ensuing anti-eco to put themselves within one round of their opponents. A double entry from Golden briefly kept fnatic in the lead, but a trio of rounds in response from Renegades gave the Australians control as they took the lead at 11-10.

Although fnatic took another round to tie up the match, they were only able to find one frag over the course of the next three rounds as Renegades once again pulled ahead at 14-11. A trade for control allowed Renegades up to match point, and although fnatic won another round to force AZR and company onto pistols, two saved guns allowed Renegades the frags they needed to close out the series with a 16-13 victory.

This fnatic just had the biggest fluke tournament win in history tbh. It actually is hilarious how they just recycle players that they already got rid of because they all are bad as fuck together. and it shows here stop recycling trash that doesnt work and invest in some young talent

EG's win was the biggest fluke. They won ESL NY and bombed out of Malmo. Fnatic won Malmo and now lost 1 series and you are already calling it a fluke lmao

flair checks out, eg is 20x more of a fluke than fnatic you don’t just win a tier 1 event and come to the next one to lose to mousesports and grayhound lmfaooooo. meanwhile astralis made it to top 4 with “jet lag”
2019-10-22 05:58
Botisfaction actually top fragging, insane play from Moustache, hope he continues his form so they don't always have to get carried by jks and jkaem
