WESG 2019 slot distribution, qualifiers announced

The dates and details for European, Asian, and African WESG 2019 qualifiers have been revealed.

Alibaba Sports, who is running WESG 2019-2020 in cooperation with U Can Company (UCC), have announced the schedule of the open and closed regional qualifiers which will kick off shortly, the first one starting on November 13.

Last year's edition of WESG was won by Windigo

It is important to note that the nationality rule has been softened in comparison to previous iterations of WESG, now allowing teams to feature up to two foreigners.

A total of 24 teams will compete at the WESG 2019 Global Finals, which will feature a $1,000,000 prize pool and take place in Chongqing in March of next year. The 24 slots will be distributed in the following way:

For Asia, a separate APAC tournament will take place in Kuala Lumpur, from where two teams will qualify for the Global Finals.

Depending on the region, open qualifiers will yield one or two closed qualifier slots, with invited teams joining them there in some cases. For more details and links to qualifiers visit the official website.

But no teams were competing, so it was a pretty irrelevant event. Atleast now some teams can competr with their actual Brister. But yes, ruins the whole point of Wesg. ;/

They still haven't? Wtf. Who runs wesg? Although, it is currently really difficult to bring money out of the china atm and change it into a different currency. Cause the governemmt is trying to prevent the wealthy from moving large amount of money out of the country, this they're restricting it. However, they should have it soon. (This happens because of the large prize pool in wesg, it won't happen for item, cause they only have 250k)
2019-11-09 20:14

WTF? The team who was on the 1st place did not get money. At least month ago that was true. May be now they get money, may be not. But WESG did not pay them for many months, that's fact!
2019-11-09 18:59
It's normal. Orgs don't get paid as soon as they win or eliminated. For example, EPL's policy is to pay teams 3 months after a season ended. Or maybe they just used wepay and all the teams don't have an account yet, lol. In all seriousness, I really want to learn more of the WESG's policy of prize money payment and I don't trust the Windigo's owner one bit.
