Astralis enter Intel Grand Slam S3 race with IEM Beijing title

Astralis have joined the race for the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 prize after winning IEM Beijing on Sunday over 100 Thieves.

The Danish giants became the fourth champion in as many Grand Slam events this season, joining Liquid, Evil Geniuses and fnatic in the heated battle for the $1 million cheque.

Of the four teams, only fnatic have not yet secured a spot at the next Grand Slam event, the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, which will be held from December 3-8 in Odense, Denmark. The Swedes will be hoping to qualify for the event via the second European group stage in which they will have to take on FaZe, Vitality and HellRaisers.

Astralis could add a second IGS title to their tally in Odense next month

ESL decided to up the stakes for Season 3 after Liquid won the previous edition inside just 63 days. A team can still claim the $1 million prize if they win four ESL Pro Tour Masters tournaments inside a span of ten consecutive events as long as at least one of those trophies came at a Championship level competition (for 2020 these tournaments will be IEM Katowice, ESL One Cologne and any potential Major run by either ESL or DreamHack). Otherwise, teams will require six tournament victories during a window of ten events to collect the cheque.

Below you can find a list of the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 events that have been played out and the ones that are already confirmed:

IEM Chicago - United States Liquid
ESL One New York - United States Evil Geniuses
DreamHack Masters Malmö - Sweden fnatic
IEM Beijing - Denmark Astralis
ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals - December 3-8
IEM Katowice 2020 - February 25-March 1
ESL One Cologne 2020 - July 6-12

So one of these 4 teams has to win the rest 3 tournaments in order to get grand slam?
2019-11-10 12:55
3 more events will be this season
2019-11-10 13:05
No shit Sherlock
2019-11-10 13:19
3 more events not anounced yet mr. idioto (1 of them is spring major)
2019-11-10 13:30
ok sherlock
2019-11-10 14:30
the 3 events listed are only the ones confirmed. there will be many more events between them. and as far as i know there is no "end" to the grand slam, it'll just keep going until 1 team wins the required amount.
2019-11-10 13:27
first 2 seasons was 10 events per season. This time mb more (not sure) but team need to win 6 of them or 4 w/ major to win this season.
2019-11-10 13:32
no, the other seasons were the same. what you're talking about is the fact that the teams had to win 4 out of 10 events to claim the 1mil. because liquid won the grand slam so quickly, esl changed it to 6/10 (or 4/10 with major/katowice/cologne). if a team wins the 1st event, that event rotates out at the 11th event and that team 'loses' the win. the 2nd event rotates out at the 12th event, etc. it's a socalled "rolling window" of 10 events that never stops until 1 team wins 6/10 (4/10), then everything is reset to 0. this season could go 7 events if one of the 4 teams wins the next 3 events (including kato), or it could go forever.
2019-11-10 13:48
