ECS Season 8 Finals groups revealed
The two groups for the ECS Season 8 Finals have been drawn, with the four best teams in the world split equally between them.
The eight squads which will be competing at the ECS Season 8 Finals have been decided through a total of 10 weekly cups, five played in North America and five in Europe. Astralis, Evil Geniuses, Liquid and fnatic have earned their spots at the event, making the fight for the top at the $500,000 event an exciting one.
The groups were determined using a team-selection method, with the two first-qualified teams (AVANGAR and Sharks) starting the process of picking teams for the opposite group.
This is how the process looked like:
A1 (AVANGAR) selects B2 (Astralis)
B1 (Sharks) selects A2 (Evil Geniuses)
B2 (Astralis) selects A3 (Team Liquid)
A2 (Evil Geniuses) selects B3 (Fnatic)
B3 (Fnatic) selects A4 (NiP)
B4 (MIBR) remaining
The process resulted in the two following groups:
ECS Season 8 Finals will take place on November 28 - December 1, using a BO1-BO3 GSL group stage format leading into a single-elimination BO3 playoff. The tournament will once again be held at the Esports Arena in Arlington, Texas for the second time, with the last two days open to the public.
The schedule for the event has also been unveiled, with the four-day tournament concluding with a BO3 grand final on Sunday, December 1.
