ECS Season 8 Finals groups revealed

The two groups for the ECS Season 8 Finals have been drawn, with the four best teams in the world split equally between them.

The eight squads which will be competing at the ECS Season 8 Finals have been decided through a total of 10 weekly cups, five played in North America and five in Europe. Astralis, Evil Geniuses, Liquid and fnatic have earned their spots at the event, making the fight for the top at the $500,000 event an exciting one.

Liquid is looking to regain form on home soil

The groups were determined using a team-selection method, with the two first-qualified teams (AVANGAR and Sharks) starting the process of picking teams for the opposite group.

This is how the process looked like:

A1 (AVANGAR) selects B2 (Astralis)
B1 (Sharks) selects A2 (Evil Geniuses)
B2 (Astralis) selects A3 (Team Liquid)
A2 (Evil Geniuses) selects B3 (Fnatic)
B3 (Fnatic) selects A4 (NiP)
B4 (MIBR) remaining

The process resulted in the two following groups:

Did you even bother to read how the groups were decided? If anything, you can blame it on Avangar who vetoed against Astralis, but it makes sense to veto the #1 - doesn’t it? After that first veto everything more or less progressed as expected.

How can you make fun of a country when you have a Polish flag? Either way, I think the groups are equal in challenges. It will be interesting seeing MIBR play, but I feel like we will get obvious teams moving on in group B of Astralis and fnatic where group A could go any way. We know that both EG and Liquid may bomb out in groups to either NIP or Avangar
2019-11-12 19:09
