NiP beat BIG to go 2-0, G2 take first win over North in Pro League

Day two of the second group stage at ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe has come to a close with NiP beating BIG for their second win, while G2 grabbed their first after defeating North.

The second day of Europe's second group stage first saw NiP go up against BIG, with the German-majority side picking Train to start things off.

Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz & co. would soon come to regret that choice, as the Swedes put together an unbreakable defense with Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg at the helm, going on a 14-0 streak to secure a quick opening map shortly after, at 16-1.

One-sided defensive halves on Train and Nuke won NiP the series

The beginning of Nuke made it clear that BIG still had a fight left in them, as they looked to give NiP a taste of their own medicine with a dominant CT side led by Owen "smooya" Butterfield. Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson's team were at one point down 1-10, winning their only round with a shoddy forcebuy, but managed to save their chances with three out of the last four rounds.

When sides switched, BIG won their second pistol of the series but lost to a full eco two rounds later, kickstarting the comeback for NiP, who went on a 11-2 run from there to take the second map to overtime and soon come out victorious 19-16, 2-0.

In the latter series, North and G2 began on Train, as well, where the Danish side got off to a good start with a 5-0 lead that would soon dwindle away when Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač retook the A bombsite in a 2v3 scenario, which helped the French-Serbian squad take control of proceedings and reduce the deficit to just one by halftime.

nexa's 1v3 clutch in the second pistol round rocket-started an undefeated half, which saw North unable to inflict enough casualties to even have a chance as they conceded their pick 8-16 before switching over to Dust2.

G2 beat North for their first win

The Danes once again started off the better, this time on the CT side at first, but when both sides had weaponry G2 began to establish control over the economy, while North had to save guns in consecutive rounds to keep things competitive. Nicklas "gade" Gade's team managed to do as much, with the halftime score once again showing a one-round difference.

nexa & co. extended their lead further when they won the pistol round and didn't let their opponents win consecutive rounds, rallying to match point on the back of another couple of clutches from the in-game leader and huNter-. Although North held on thanks to a fantastic quad-kill from Philip "aizy" Aistrup in a 2v5 and a 1v3 from gade later, they fell at the last hurdle, with G2 locking down the series at 16-14, 2-0.
