Liquid eliminate FaZe at BLAST Pro Series Global Final

Liquid secured a 2-1 victory over FaZe in the lower-bracket final (16-13 Mirage, 12-16 Dust2, 16-10 Nuke), to save their tournament life and set up a match against NiP tomorrow.

After losing their opening series to Astralis and NiP, respectively, Liquid and FaZe faced off in the lower-bracket final in Riffa, Bahrain. At the conclusion of a back-and-forth series, FaZe fell to Liquid and ended up eliminated from the event, while the North Americans will take on NiP for a place in the grand final tomorrow.

Liquid were off to a great start on their map pick, Mirage, taking a 7-1 lead on the offensive side. It took FaZe bringing out the double AWP setup to put an end to the North American domination, and slowly but surely, they strung seven rounds together, not giving away more than two kills per round.

FaZe were looking to continue their form in the second half, but the wind was taken out of their sails in the pistol as Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken clutched a 1v3 on the B bombsite. Early into their T-side, the European mixture also suffered a 1v1 loss and faltered to an anti-eco, allowing Liquid to run away with the lead, reaching map point. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and co. then rallied back, but eventually faltered to a strong A hold which allowed Liquid to claim the map 16-13.

Liquid continue their run in Bahrain

Bouncing back for their loss on Mirage, FaZe assumed the lead on Dust2 right from the bat, picking up a 6-0 advantage on the offensive side of their map pick. Keith "NAF" Markovic with a saved AWP was the catalyst to Liquid's first CT round, helping the North American side gain momentum on the defense. The score was nearly equalized after that, 6-5, with FaZe ending the half with a minimal lead after a few back-and-forth rounds.

After the second-half pistol was claimed by Liquid, FaZe was quick to reply and show strength with the rifles, with Helvijs "broky" Saukants and Håvard "rain" Nygaard shining on the B defense. As the score was 12-12, two back-to-back last-second-defuses allowed FaZe to take the lead and eventually claim the win on Dust2, 16-12.

Starting Nuke 3-0 down seemingly didn't affect Liquid too much, as they went on to win nine out of the next ten rounds after getting rifles in their hands (8-3). Despite their opponents' big lead, FaZe managed to keep their economy in check and break the bank after an A site explosion, exploiting the weak economy after that to narrow the gap down to just one round before the switch.

Picking up the pistol put Liquid back into the driver's seat, and with Twistzz proving deadly to his opponent, the North Americans were able to edge out round after round. As Liquid reached match point, FaZe started to put up some resistance, but it was too little, too late, and Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co. claimed the victory, 16-10 on Nuke and 2-1 for the series.

Honestly if ur going with stats then it just proves you don't know shit about cs If you watch at all the reason liquid even beat FaZe at all is cuz of the guy ur all hating on running in and sarcrificing himself to make room for the rest Thought everyone knew this but i guess not
2019-12-13 22:11
not true at all, if you watch stewie he doesnt contribute to the teamplay like support player would but his play is based on taking risks that would pay of if it wasnt 2019 and everyone knew stewie gonna try something stupid. sometimes it works in heat of a moment when enemy is focusing on other liquid players but most times it doesnt and thats why he is bottom fragging. never ever suggest stewie is a support player in liquid because he isnt and doesnt help his team in terms of frags the slightest as he is most of the time playing alone on one site or holding position he loses 99% of times.

It’s more about his contributions on the T side, and I’m pretty sure that’s what he was talking about above, not about him being a support player. For sure he isn’t that good on CT side, both in terms of decision making and mechanical skill, but pay more attention to him on T. Of course, he does make questionable decisions sometimes but you will be surprised to see the number of times Stewie goes in first, doesn’t kill anyone but makes space and sacrifices his life so that players like EliGE and Twistzz can trade. He’s a decent entry fragger but what makes him so important is how selfless he is, he doesn’t care about dying first in rushes as long as it helps the team. Other players do this, obviously, but in a top team, none more than Stewie in my opinion. The reason he’s bottom fragging is not just his individual form but also his role. I know I sound biased, but I am admitting that his CT side isn’t good enough. But if you think the guy above is totally wrong then I doubt you watch how Liquid play on T side.
2019-12-14 03:24
his contribution on t side is to sell fakes because he is absolutely useless as a firepower opening up site, he is essentially given free frags on rounds when he is set to kill rotating ct's and he still cant contribute when those are about the easiest frags one can wish for.

in mirage, they lost an anti-eco and lost a 3v1 pistol round, that could have gone 16-13 for faze or even better, but those mistakes caused them to lose mirage, and win D2, and then lose Nuke in a pretty... "so-so" way lets say, they played a good T side but they remembered to play well in the CT side, still im not delusional of saying that we would have won against Astralis but we had our chances. Sad but still better for faze, longer break to think a lot about everything and create new strats

Faze gotta be the most confusing team.. One moment their execution on par with Astralis then next round it's on par with BOT Kyle and friends. One moment they get all headshot and one-tap, the next they can't hit an elephant even when it is standing in front of them.... Gotta hand it to their fans for keeping up faith, how they stay loyal i don't know, but kudos to them.
2019-12-13 21:22
The only 2 players who have felt consistent for Liquid lately are Naf and Elige. Fucking Stewie might be the absolute dumbest player alive. He makes some of the most fundamentally unsound decisions. And yet they still beat Faze. It's fucking bizarre.

I'm not even sad or disappointed by this result. I've just gotten used to being let down again and again by this team. We need to go get a dedicated IGL. A tier 2 IGL would be better than NiKo. We need him fragging not calling shots. either replace broky or rain or olof with an IGL and improve or stay out of the top 5 teams for 2020 aswell.
