DreamHack reveals Anaheim closed qualifier invites

DreamHack has revealed the eight teams who have received direct invites to the closed qualifiers for the Anaheim event.

Among the European invitees are Heroic, who recently came through the qualifier for DreamHack Open Leipzig, and the CR4ZY squad, who are on the brink of completing a transfer to another organisation. The North American qualifier will see Gen.G debut their full lineup after Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand played his final match with TYLOO, finally claiming the spot that was temporarily filled by Hunter "SicK" Mims.

BnTeT will make his debut with Gen.G on Sunday

Both qualifiers will take place on Sunday, January 19, with a total of three LAN slots on offer, two of which will be going to the home region. The LAN finals of the $100,000 tournament will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center on February 21-23, with MIBR, ENCE and FURIA being the standout invitees.

Below are all invited teams for the DreamHack Open Anaheim closed qualifiers:

I met Krystal in MM .... needless to say zehN carried all of us althought we won 16-4 so doesnt really matter.. but from what i've seen , krystal is super average MM player , he tried to do some calls (yes , calling in random MM game - yikes) they sucked , i've seen better calls from random MM dudes that act like IGLs , his aim suck , his awping suck , his calls suck... no wonder Godsent suck as well.

Why is Complexity using an NA slot if most of the players are EU?
2020-01-17 17:54
Because they're based in NA.
2020-01-17 17:57
3 of those playing are EU. That is how they've determined it before. This is an exception. If it were just a matter of where they're based, any EU team that wants to base themselves out of NA to more easily get through the Major qualifiers would do that. TSM had a top-3 team in the world in Europe before relocating to NA. In order for them to make their move, they dumped what is now Astralis. If what you say is true, they could have just told the Device and the others to relocate to the US. Certainly, those teams that risk not being able to make it through the qualifiers could more easily make it through NA. That never happens. if it did, I wouldn't be on here asking why they're allowed to compete in NA instead of EU.

Aren't the EU players located in US?
2020-01-17 19:09
Perhaps that's how the league is justifying it, but that still doesn't explain why all the Tier 2 teams in EU were never coming to NA to get an easier path to the Majors.

It's the same as 100 Thieves and Bravado a few months prior to disbanding. 100 Thieves play in NA despite being Aussies and Bravado played in NA despite being from South Africa. Same goes for MIBR who play NA qualifiers despite being SA team.

yea same as Gen.G, should attend the Asian qualifier instead huh? LUL
2020-01-18 02:40
I got the point. If they all moved to Asia, I suppose they'd play in those leagues even though 4 of 5 are NA players. I was continue to find it curious why Tier 2 EU teams aren't moving to Asia or NA to more easily get into Majors or move place highly in those leagues.

Why is Complexity playing in NA? Why are they being treated better than all the other EU teams? Why don't other EU teams do what Complexity is doing if they could just play against worse teams?
