Virtus.pro eliminated in last place of DreamHack Open Leipzig
The Kazakhstani side has exited the German event without a single close result in three maps after facing the two teams currently ranked 46th and 17th, as they lost 8-16 to BIG on Inferno in the opening round and 4-16 and 7-16 on Overpass and Dust2, respectively, against Cloud9, with their final round difference amounting to -29.
DreamHack Open Leipzig marks the second consecutive last-place finish for the team since they were acquired by Virtus.pro in mid-December after EPICENTER 2019 saw Dzhami "Jame" Ali & co. concede series to mousesports and forZe.
Ranked 19th at the moment, the team had been consistently dropping in the rankings after reaching their peak at fourth place with a runners-up finish at the StarLadder Major and a title-winning run at BLAST Pro Series Moscow.
They have been unable to replicate that success in the past four months, with their only top-half placing in that time — outside of a regional triumph at WESG Central Asia Finals — coming at DreamHack Open Rotterdam, where CR4ZY (now c0ntact) ended their run in the semi-finals.
