Nordavind and Sprout advance to EU Minor closed qualifier

Nordavind and Sprout have secured berths in the Europe Minor closed qualifier after coming out on top of the second open qualifier.

Day one of the open qualifier saw Polish representatives succeed as four teams from the country — ex-Virtus.pro, AGO, AVEZ, and PACT — made it through to day two alongside Nordavind, Copenhagen Flames, Juggernauts, and Sprout.

The Nordic mixture around Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel were the first to qualify after beating two of the aforementioned Poles, including Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski & co. in a convincing manner on Nuke and PACT over three maps in the spot-deciding series.

Sprout advanced in their second attempt

Having missed out on a top-two placing the first time around, Sprout succeeded in their second attempt. At first they took down AVEZ 16-12 on Inferno on the back of great performances from the newcomers, Paweł "dycha" Dycha and Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný, and the duo kept performing as the team defeated AGO for the second spot.

The updated team list of the Europe Minor closed qualifier looks as follows:

Sweden NIP
Denmark MAD Lions
Europe OG
France Heretics
Germany BIG
Germany Sprout
Europe Open qualifier #3
Europe Open qualifier #4

The two remaining open qualifiers, which will determine the last four spots, are set to be played on February 8-9 and February 12-13.

NiP, OG, Mad Lions, Heroic, fnatic and BIG would all be favourites in the other minors.
2020-02-06 01:36
The only question is if at least one polish team manage to reach closed quali or they have to realize they need to build one decent T2 team out of all of those players hard way.

Even if they make it to the closed qualifier, the chances are that none make the Minor, and a Polish team at the Major seems unthinkable.

you do realize that playing BO1s against any team for 6+ hours is as dangerous as it is tiring? of course this was only the first step but it is still an achievement

as i said the opposition more or less does not matter in a 6 hour best-of-one session. you need mental strength for that. but i can accept that you're throwing low quality baits at me, easy to say when all swedish teams got an easy invite
