k0nfig: "I knew we had it in us; I love this game again and I love this team"

Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke took a moment after Complexity's upset victory against Astralis at BLAST Premier Spring Series to talk about the match and the team's preparation going into it.

Complexity are through to Group B's winners' match at BLAST Premier Spring following a convincing victory over world No.1 Astralis, who were playing their first match of the year.

k0nfig believes Complexity can take on anyone after beating Astralis

It would have been hard to imagine a better LAN debut for the Complexity line-up, which was assembled three months ago following the arrivals of k0nfig and Valentin "poizon" Vasilev. The result came as a timely morale-booster after the team had failed to qualify for the Europe Minor through the first two open brackets.

"I knew we could play well," k0nfig said in the mixed zone after the match. "I knew we had the team to win, I knew we had it in us, but we hadn't really shown it online. We practiced a lot and I feel a bit burned out, but we played so well. I love this game again and I love this team as well.

"We were hoping for one map and that was it. We got two, so everybody is fucking happy. This is the best thing ever. We were saying, 'Oh, it would be nice to get a few rounds,’ and we were kind of nervous when we walked in. We expected a lot less from ourselves, but everything just worked out and we banged it. We haven't even talked about the other teams we're going to play, so we'll see…"

k0nfig admitted that he was surprised that his team were able to shut out Astralis on Vertigo - a map they had not played in official matches since the roster's creation -, revealing that practice games had not been going well for his side.

"We hadn't been playing really well on CT, it was a mess," he said. "We even thought of switching positions and all of that stuff, but we did it…

"An official match is always different than practice. We had a game plan and just followed it fully."

Complexity will now face off against Vitality and the recently-crowned best player of 2019, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, in a match k0nfig is going into with confidence after beating Astralis.

"We have to go prepare for it now," he said before going back to celebrate with his teammates. "I know [coach] keita has already prepared for it a bit, but we'll see tomorrow. Right now we are on a high after this victory, and I think we can win our next games no matter who we play."

Doesn't matter, it's still a big achievement. Astralis could definitely play better and coL played better than what we've seen since creation.. But Astralis is not a team that usually loses to a much weaker side, regardless of them having an off-day. It's a big victory they can use as motivation going forward, regardless of them winning against Vitality or not.
2020-02-08 02:02
it's not, we've seen plenty of flukes, VP most recently. Col was on another level individually and Astralis struggled, let's see if they can keep this up for more than a tournament
2020-02-08 07:32
yesterday Astralis looked like a Col and Col looked like a Astralis lmao

Didn't exactly spot the argument here
2020-02-08 16:44
the argument is that flukes happen, nobody knew how Complexity plays and they were given two fairly brawly maps, dust and vertigo and their individual form was far superior. Astralis is the best team but not an undefeatable team. Complexity have potential but only time will tell

Uhm, yeah. I actually mentioned that in my first post. I pointed out that it was a fluke, but that the fluke is still a big achievement. It isn't just any team, that people don't know how plays, that can just show up and beat Astralis 2-0. It's completely delusional that you seem to think that.
2020-02-08 17:36
Okey go and lick g1ave's ass so that this didn't happen in the future dickhead.

Astralis had no info about their game style so that was an advantage for CoL but they play and aim was really on point today so deserved the win, we'll see in the next day if they have what it needs to be a top team
2020-02-08 00:44
I actually happy for complexity. Its like they always have good team in dota2 and cs go with big potential, but those players always lazy or lack of motivation and just scam organization for money. Maybe now its be different story, maybe.

Its not about being mad, i just said the truth. I follow coL. since CS 1.6 and their line up with fRoD, Storm. Also they had brasilian line up, fallen fnx bit bruno ton. I want to see them again on the top, but its impossible.

Ngl, any ring rust aside, Complexity legit looked good today. The aim was on point from pretty much everyone, especially oBo and poizon, and they had solid nades and retakes and even good wallbangs and smoke sprays on Vertigo. If they can take what they've done so far, theorycraft more and refine their strategies and get things together as a team, they could really go far this year. I'm not saying they will, but the potential is easily there, and they just proved that today. Also I love how they baited Astralis so hard on that Vertigo pick lol.

:D yeh specialy loved his scout usage. Although in the long run complexity has what it takes to be a top.tier team. Apart from their awp level it is uncertain though. Unless poizon becomes the next cerq, kennys, device,jw, woxic etc Typical hltv kids banking on hype. Probably the same kids that think your stats are most important. Cant look past 3 seconds forward in time xD Hence why it could be a great time for an upcoming team to get a good deal while they are in their high to sustain their level for times to.come. Or just let poizon run with it and see. Discarding deals.
