Isurus drop out of FLASHPOINT Global qualifier

Isurus have been forced to withdraw from the FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier due to a schedule conflict with the Americas Minor qualifiers, it has been announced.

In a statement, the Argentinian organisation explained that they were unsuccessful in their attempt to reschedule the South American closed qualifier for the Americas Minor after "some teams" opposed moving the tournament to a new date.

FLASHPOINT has not yet announced a replacement for Isurus, who finished in first place in the South American qualifier after defeating Neverest, RED Canids, DETONA and Redemption POA.

Isurus will not attend the FLASHPOINT LAN qualifier

The Global Qualifier will be held in Los Angeles from March 3-5, the exact same dates as the Minor closed qualifier. The top two sides will secure entry into the FLASHPOINT league, joining the ten franchise partners, who have each paid a $2 million entry fee to be part of the project.

The team list for the FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier currently looks as follows:

The qualifying process for B Site will have $100,000 on offer, with orgless teams who manage to qualify being offered a $25,000 monthly stipend for the duration of the season. Find out more about the qualifiers in our announcement post. This is off one of the flashpoint hltv articles

Franchise partners in FLASHPOINT are fined $100,000 a month if they are outside of the top 20 in a ranking approved by the CSPPA. This only applies to the ten partners, who have paid $2 million to enter the league and have revenue share. The two teams who come out of the qualifiers are safe from these fines.

FLASHPOINT could be a really good league imo, but the 100k fines for orgs who are not in the top 20 is ridiculous. They claim it's so teams will be forced to get more competitive and buyout star players but in reality unless they drop the 100k fines this league will never be on ESL's level. If teams already in the top 20 don't see value in joining flashpoint, then what incentive does it give teams who aren't in the top 20 already? "Do good or the org loses a ton of money and the roster gets dropped" doesn't seem like the kind of incentive players and orgs are looking for alike. The only reason I will watch this league is for Gen.G

I like the concept of the fines, but it does make me wonder about the following things: - Will flashpoint teams ever assemble a team from scratch again (like OG/complexity etc. now), seeing as they might not be able to gain enough points in the ranking during their league (meaning they'd have to pay 100k a month (was it?) during the entire season). It might incentivice them to pick up a top 15 team and slowly try to build that into a better one. Something that might lead to never having a really great team. - Will ESL pro league teams make the buyouts of their players a lot higher, seeing as Flashpoint teams will lose 100k consistently if they don't buy out better players. This would be bad for the industry (inflated buyouts are never good imo), but good for EPL (teams) as it would keep the value of their league high. -
