Zeus named IEM Katowice trophy bearer
The 32-year-old will be the official trophy bearer at the opening ceremony at Spodek on Friday, reuniting with the World Championship trophy that he won two times as a player with the legendary Natus Vincere line-up, in 2010 and 2011.
Zeus, who also competed in the 2012 final against ESC, will be the fifth trophy bearer in the history of IEM Katowice after the Polish trio of Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski, Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski and Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas, and retired Warcraft III and StarCraft 2 player Yoan "ToD" Merlo.
The Ukrainian retired from gaming in September, playing his final tournament at BLAST Pro Series Moscow. He is widely regarded as one of the best tactical minds in the history of Counter-Strike and fulfilled his dream of winning a Major in the summer of 2017, when he led Gambit to glory at PGL Major Krakow.
IEM Katowice 2020 will begin on Monday, February 24, with the double-elimination groups, which will be played backstage. The top six teams will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, which will culminate with the best-of-five grand final on Sunday at 17:00 .
