FaZe eliminate Renegades; fnatic to playoffs over Na`Vi

FaZe eliminated Renegades in the first lower bracket round and will face Vitality in their following match while fnatic will play Astralis for a berth in the semi-finals after defeating Natus Vincere 2-1.

FaZe and Renegades kicked off their Group A upper bracket series on Inferno, the Australian team’s map pick, but it was the Europeans who smashed their opposition early on in the match. After seven rounds Renegades only had six frags split amongst three players and all of their offensives were being instantly crushed.

Down 0-8 Renegades were finally able to tally a round, and it was then that the momentum started to shift. Christopher "dexter" Nong, one of the slower players to get into the match, won a crucial 1v2 against Marcelo "coldzera" David and Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer to keep going as they halved the deficit, 4-8. Joshua "INS" Potter then won a 1vs2 afterplant on B against Håvard "rain" Nygaard and olofmeister as Renegades saved the half and brought it to 7-8.

FaZe were able to calm things down after switching sides, winning the first pistol round and going on a five round streak as Renegades struggled to get a good economy running, but adjustments were made and the Oceanian team and they were able to bring it back to 10-13. A fast play down mid by rain to open up the 24th round put FaZe in control as they quickly took A site to get one away from match point. Renegades were able to give it a last go winning two more rounds, but it was Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and company who closed it out, 16-12, to go 1-0 into their map pick.

FaZe will face Vitality in the lower bracket’s second round

FaZe got off to a flying start on the attacking side of Mirage, taking another large lead early on, 7-0, with rain heading the charge on the scoreboard as NiKo and coldzera’s firepower wasn’t needed. Renegades won a round to make it 1-7, but Helvijs "broky" Saukants and NiKo won a 2vs2 to keep their momentum going. The European squad’s superiority remained, although they gave up two more rounds to end the half 12-3.

Renegades won the second pistol round and kept the dream alive making it 6-12 before taking the first gun round. They brought it as close as 8-12 before FaZe were able to win their first round of the half, and didn’t stop there as a successful A take with two quick kills by Jordan "Hatz" Bajic kept Renegades on the comeback path. Ultimately, however, the gap was just too large as FaZe won three rounds in a row with a 13-10 lead to secure their appearance in the next round of matches.

Natus Vincere took the lead on the attacking side of Dust2, but three kills from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson in the second round tied it up immediately. The Swedes kept a steady pace giving up just one round out of the following six to go up 6-2 as Natus Vincere struggled to build their economy up. KRIMZ’s spectacular start, with 21 kills in nine rounds, proved to not be enough for fnatic to run away as Natus Vincere started to creep back and close the distance. A crucial 2vs4 by Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin and Jesper "JW" Wecksell stopped that and the Swedish team stayed ahead, 7-5, before going on to win the half out 10-5.

KRIMZ and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist won a 2vs4 in the second pistol round to extend their lead to six rounds and fnatic’s varied playbook proved hard to read for Natus Vincere as they controlled the pace on the attack to a 16-7 win. KRIMZ, the star of the map, hit a staggering 31 frags in the 33 rounds played, which granted him a 2.16 rating on the map.

KRIMZ was unstoppable on Dust2, ending the map with +2 rating

A fast B play on Inferno put fnatic in the driver’s seat as they went on to take a 4-0 lead following the pistol round, but four AWP kills by Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev in the fifth round put a halt to the snowball. Both teams then traded rounds and fnatic came out on top with a 6-2 lead thanks to a double entry by JW, but Natus Vincere struck back as they still had enough of an economy for a buy and didn’t let the Swedes run away as the half ended with fnatic ahead by the shortest of margins, 8-7.

fnatic were unable to stop Natus Vincere from tying it up, but two flash assists by flusha and two desert eagle kills put fnatic right back in the lead. Winning against the forcebuy they hit double digits, 10-8, and extended their lead to 12-8 before Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov and Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy won a 2vs3 afterplant on B. Natus Vincere came back little by little and tied it up 13-13.

The Swedes were finally able to win a round thanks to a successful A retake, but the match stayed even as s1mple took four players down to make it 14-14 before Na`Vi went on to hit match point. It looked like the map was going to go into overtime as Natus Vincere looked done for, but a triple by Perfecto in a 3vs5 turned it around to push the series to a decider.

Natus Vincere reacted too late on the attacking side of Mirage

fnatic established an early 3-0 lead on Mirage before Natus Vincere had an economy to buy rifles. The CIS side started by evening the match out before winning five rounds in a row to establish dominance as fnatic scrambled. A successful 4vs3 afterplant situation the Swedish side a fourth round, but Natus Vincere kept a tight defense and went on to win the half 10-5.

Doubles by KRIMZ and flusha in the second pistol round helped fnatic keep the decider close as they quickly brought it back to 9-10. Brollan and KRIMZ got doubles to tie it up before they retook the lead against a forcebuy. Brollan then had another multi-kill round on an A defense, with three, to further increase their lead, 12-10. Natus Vincere denied fnatic a perfect half going from 10-15 to 12-15, but it wouldn't be enough as their effort was brought to an end, 16-12.

That's what happens when your team only plays for one player's KDR and not for the win... You lose. Navbitchs not going to win a single tournament this year again but simple will have good rating and the 7-12 olds of HLTV will keep bitching about zywoo being Top1 for the next 5 years.

Even if simple performs, find all the impact and multikills to get his team close to victory. Haters will still find a way to hate. If he doesnt perform(which rarely occurs), he is $h*t. if he performs, his team baits for him, he is a stat padder blah blah blah.. Cant u all see the skill difference??? Cant u all see how happy he is when he wins and how sad he is when he loses even if he had good stats???? Hating for no reason like the majority of hltv users.

Navi got lucky with that 2v5 , flusha gave them a free kill and simple saved their asses. Fnatic would've easily won inferno. Navi got lucky af in mirage with electronic clutch. It tilted fnatic for the rest of the half. Fnatic t side on mirage is the best in the world , and they would've run over Navi if they hadnt been tilted. The fact that Navi can't go all in one site doesn't mean fnatic is lucky , it just means Navi is bad. Time to get off this ridiculous hype train already

Yeah, I am watching s1mple game since 2016 ( I was introduced to CS in 2016 by my friend) . 2018 S1mple was confident S1mple. 2020 s1mple is overconfident s1mple. After throwing the clutch in major semi final. I thought s1mple learnt his lesson, but no, he threw again against liquid ( by trying to knife nitro in d2). Then I realize that this s1mple is not prime s1mple. Prime s1mple = aim + brain + teamplay.

U dont understand this game even if u have been watching since 2016. If navi is anything today it's majorly because of s1mple. Even in this game, simple fragged hard to get 10 rounds on ct side mirage. Got all the impactful multikills in inferno to get the team close to victory. Stop hating when u dont understand CS. They lost coz flamie cant entry and perfecto cant get a trade but all of u people find reasons to blame simple even when he performed. Just stop

Nobody can do openings when there is crossfires and flashes coming. This game is a team game. Simple is not a god. His team especially flamie and perfecto couldnt pull their own weight.

Another match of electronic's underperforming. But s1mple haters will wait until one match elec make k/d +5 to say he is better than s1mple. Fnatic wp btw, nice to see NaVi competing vs such strong teams like Ast, mouse and fnatic.

They have insane firepower but still cant win, seems like boombl4 disappears during mid round, i know its really hard for him as IGL, he is not only very new to the scene but also a newbie IGL. He might just be unconfident in his calls when its really matters, he's getting lost during mid round and the team do not know what to do, just like the last round of mirage. Imo he should always have an idea of what to do, and don't be scary if it comes out as a bad idea.

Fnatic can become the best team in the world this year, I think Astralis and Faze will fight them for it. Wildcard Mous and NaVi if things is still improving!

It was GG and WP by Na`Vi and fnatic. Great to see Na`Vi improving and learning on their mistakes + they seem to be calm and have good chemistry inside the team!.
2020-02-26 00:17
I miss 2018 s1mple, he's still a good but he just isn't playing with the aggression and confidence he used to, to much baiting not enough impact as before :(.
2020-02-26 01:30
very good
2020-02-26 01:59
Na`Vi still have very bad T side, even worse than Zeus' leading. I'm not sure, but how good B1ad3 is doing his job? Have no clue to be honest. Their CT being better and better but T side becoming worse and worse. GG s1mple and co. Atleast guys are on the right path.

B1ad3 is bad coach useless he is no idea what needs to do or how give confidence to his team by communication & making right decision. He is unable to make attacking t side by coaching. He take timeout & just says do this its easy but not to say how do teamwork with confident rush. If he only give confidence to team then NAVI do best as Astralis, See Astralis Coach Zonic How is he as coach? Learn from him
