Complexity to replace MAD Lions in Europe Minor closed qualifier
Complexity will take MAD Lions' spot in this weekend's closed qualifier for the Europe Minor, ESL has announced.
Benjamin "blameF" Bremer's troops were called in last-minute after MAD Lions decided to withdraw from the qualifier "due to being unable to field a suitable roster" for the tournament, which will kick off Saturday.
The news follows an HLTV.org report revealing that the Danish team had decided to bench in-game leader Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen because of internal issues. DBLTAP later reported that MAD Lions had set their sights on Asger "AcilioN" Larsen, who is currently on Copenhagen Flames's bench.
Currently ranked 15th in the world, Complexity took part in three of the four open qualifiers and twice made the semi-finals, losing out to BIG and SMASH. The team's online woes have contrasted starkly with their form on LAN, having survived the 'Group of Death' at BLAST Premier and finished top-four at DreamHack Open Anaheim.
Complexity will fill take MAD Lions' spot in the double-elimination bracket, which means that they will face world No. 32 Sprout in the first round. The top eight teams of the qualifier will secure spots at the Europe Minor, which will be held from April 26 through May 2 in Rio de Janeiro.
