Flashpoint 1 schedule announced

Flashpoint has released the schedule for the first edition of the league, which will kick off later this week.

The inaugural season of Flashpoint will run from March 13 through April 19 and will be held entirely in the company's Los Angeles studio following the decision to cancel the finals in Stockholm due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The league will begin with two double-elimination group stages featuring three groups of four teams. These two phases of the competition will be used as a seeding tool to determine the eight teams going to the double-elimination playoffs.

Flashpoint 1 will start on March 13

Flashpoint has not yet announced the names of the last three teams who will be competing in the league. According to recent reports, Chinese organisation FunPlus Phoenix have signed Heroic's roster and are joining as a partner, while invites have been handed out to Chaos and HAVU, both of whom were in attendance at the recent Global Qualifier.

The group selection show will be held on March 12 at 20:00 and will see the teams themselves draft the groups. More information about the group selection and the swap process can be found here.

2020-03-10 20:47
I know right? I was looking at events yesterday, iem 11 750k (most competitive tier 1 tournament of all time) - flashpoint 1 mil (tier 3 at best) What are we even doing
2020-03-10 21:17
Every team knew this event was going to have a 1 mil prize pool. They still signed for ESL. They had their shot to make more money and they chose not to
2020-03-10 21:53
Iem 11 is part of a tour, with a possibility to win a lot more later down the road. The stupid part was to hold this tournament at the same time by flashpoint. Now we have literally nothing but tier 3 teams competing for a million dollars. These poor sponsors actually wasted money on the best competition being trash like GenG lol

Lol u clearly don’t get how the league works: It is a franchise system with buy in which means the owner teams fund the league and split profits. The prize money is really only for players not orgs in CSGO. Also this is tier2 Cs at its finest not tier 3 GenG+Mad Lions contact etc are all good.
2020-03-10 22:22
Haha nice standards of what a tier 2 team is. There isn't a single team at this event that would make it out of groups at IEM, it's tier 3 +
2020-03-10 22:24
I want you to bookmark this comment when Gen.G make it out of groups at the major. Edit: on another note, regardless of whether the teams are tier 2 or 3, it's good for the scene. It pumps smaller orgs with money and makes the rich ones richer which is good for the scene in general. It also creates incentive for players to join these orgs if given the offer because all if not, almost all of the prize pools go to the players. It could potential work out that teams in flashpoint could stand to make more money than teams in the ESL Pro Tour if no one wins the IGS. Not to mention ALL the partnered teams in flashpoint are going to be making money, not just the ones who win. I'd say this league is a step in the right position to grow the scene and bring new orgs into the fold.
2020-03-11 00:09
I understand you are a big fan of gen G, nothing wrong in dreaming about pies in the sky. But the matter of fact is all these teams are shit compared to juggernauts like Astralis, Na'Vi, mouz, Liquid, G2, faze. An undeniable fact, that simply should be accepted. I actually have hopes for GenG, but the matter of fact, until they prove as much - they are trash tier. They have achieved nothing, nor have they played a single good team yet. I don't even expect them to win this tournament, but I do consider them a contender. Which again, means nothing considering it's a tier 3 tournament
2020-03-11 00:18
I'm not betting on them to win, I don't think they stand a chance against Mouz Astralis etc. I'm not that delusional, but I truly think they do a have a shot at getting out of groups at the major. With that being said, I understand that they haven't played anyone really worth noting, but it also shouldn't be overlooked that since BnTeT joined that they have only dropped one map over 10-12 maps played with their official lineup. That and winning DH Anaheim is not a bad way to start your roster off, even if they haven't played anyone noteworthy

Do you even know what tier 3 means? Tier 3 is a team like orgless and eUnited. Tier 2 are Gen.G/BIG/North/CoL/DIG/NiP etc, which this season is catered to. So you can stop spouting out tier 3 like its some insult, it makes you sound real stupid. Secondly, none of those "tier 1" teams you named besides Astralis and Liquid (maybe EG) have won anything significant in the past year. Cool, they compete in tier 1 tournaments, they get participation points for losing. I'd bet anything that Gen.G would do better than Mouz or FaZe.
2020-03-12 07:31
You just proved my point u pleb. Mad Lions, mibr and MAYBE dignitas and genG (neither has proven shit yet) are the only tier 2 teams at that tourney. The rest are tier 3 or worse. Like read your own comment 😂😂
2020-03-12 17:45

2020-03-10 20:55
At this point, all of the leagues are simply tournaments that expand over multiple weeks (to include more teams) instead of one. All of this bickering for something that's maybe the 6th or 7th most important tournament of the year.
2020-03-10 21:30
i honestly dont share the hate. i think any tournament/league is welcome as it gives other players and teams a chance to show themselves. i just had the idea it would have a more conventional league format.

nice. I wonder if they went home and came back or if they just stayed in California whole time. If I were with BIG or HAVU I would prefer to stay in the USA and bootcamp/practice for a 7-8 days and not fly home, because being home for 7 days just to have to fly back to USA would be tiring Id rather just stay and prepare
