Cloud9 move past Dignitas to book Flashpoint Group C final spot

Cloud9 convincingly bested Dignitas in a 2-0 series, securing a spot in the Group C final of Flashpoint Phase 1.

Young blood prevailed in Group C's upper bracket final as the North American team, who have an average age of 20.7 years, bested the veterans of Dignitas, the oldest team in attendance. Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's troops have amassed a minimum of 50 points towards the ranking that will determine the playoff match-ups, and stand to gain another 25 if they come out victorious in the group final, scheduled for Tuesday.

The series kicked off on Train, where Cloud9 got off to a slow T-side start. A pistol round saw no follow-up, allowing the veteran squad to assume an early lead. While the initial stretch was difficult, domination in the latter stages made for a solid 9-6 lead for the North Americans.

oSee led the charge for Cloud9 against Dignitas

Dignitas recreated early dominance in the latter half of map one, but their offensive was stopped dead in its tracks by Cloud9's fired up CT side, leading to a 16-11 conclusion in spite of Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's solid individual showing with a map-high 1.41 rating.

Another convincing start, this time on the T side, saw Dignitas gain an early lead on their map pick, Vertigo. Rifles in the hands of Cloud9 marked a stretch of successes for the American roster, shortly followed by another solid run from the Swedes, who had the last laugh as they went into the break up by one round.

Cloud9 continued their campaign on the offensive and ruthlessly prised the Dignitas defense apart, dropping just three rounds en route to another convincing victory.

Tom brady is like 43 playing a physical sport and he just signed with a new team. What does age have to do with cs? You sit in a chair.

He's actually right though... what does age have to do with it? Also, he's 31, not 70....
2020-03-22 11:29
I meant with "you sit in a chair" part...if you think you just have to sit and do nothing you have absolutely no idea on how to become good at anything, even video games.

Misunderstood than. I assume he was just trying to emphasize that age isnt a factor in cs by saying this game isnt physically demanding (which is true).
2020-03-22 17:15
Kinda not true either. Maybe not as demanding as professional basketball players or whatever, but anyone that played CS few days 8-10 hours a day in a raw knows that its not just sitting in a chair.

I did it for 2 months straight, and i was 32 when i did it, so i know first hand. Its was not that physically demanding, At least it not for me. The only thing physically that i can remember was some wrist issues, but that kind of overuse injuries can happen on younger ages as well. There were even days where i played in total (with breaks) 12-13 hours that day, than 7-8 hours seems like nothing xD Doesnt matter, my point being is that a 31 YO (whose been doing it for like 2 decades) is the last person you can attach the word "old" to when it comes to pro gaming. Thats all.
2020-03-22 21:20
well my point is that you ran and shot. being professional is something else. Thats my point. Being concentrated while playing for big prizes, big events, is not same as playing from home for fun not giving a fuck
2020-03-22 21:57
-Xist +Hampus That would be a top 10 team right there.

Love the dig haters. Silvers on HLTV will always hate on dig bc they are not Astralis. I think to Dig together with hallzerk will get to the top 10 bc they have new management that seems good for ones and a new tactical playbook from fifflaren that will definitely help them a lot. Also, Hallzerk is amazing and consistent for the most part. If Vitality can do it so can Dig.
