MIBR move past Orgless to secure upper bracket final spot
MIBR are through to Group C's upper bracket final in Phase 2 of Flashpoint after picking up a 2-0 victory over Orgless.
The Brazilian side bounced back from a 0-2 thrashing against Liquid in the ESL Pro League with a win to kick off their Phase 2 campaign in the best possible way. Fernando "fer" Alvarenga lit up a scrappy affair with another vintage performance, with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo also coming to the team's rescue with important clutches against an Orgless team that got off to strong starts to both maps but lost steam as the games wore on.
MIBR got off to a slow start on Inferno, where they were put on the backfoot from the outset. A quad-kill from Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker, who enjoyed a spectacular T half, marked the start of a dominant period from Orgless, who jumped out to a 6-1 lead, their last round coming off the back of an ace from Matthew "WARDELL" Yu in a messy round.
It was only then that the Brazilians put their foot down and held back the North American offense, putting together a string of rounds to cut the gap to a minimum. They would not be able to get ahead in the game, though, as an ace from Gage "Infinite" Green put Orgless back in control and set the team up for another solid run.

Down 6-9, MIBR took the reins after switching over to the T side and quickly equalised the score. Orgless responded once they had guns in hand before a crucial 1v3 clutch from FalleN swung the tide in MIBR's favour. The Brazilians rode that momentum to a 15-12 lead and finally closed out the map in overtime after a nerve-racking end to the game.
Next up was Overpass, which has been the go-to map pick for MIBR in recent times. However, just like on Inferno, they looked sluggish and apathetic during the early stages of the game and found themselves chasing a 2-7 deficit after struggling to string rounds together. FalleN picked up the pace after that and ran all over the Orgless defense for the remainder of the half, which ended with just one round separating the two teams.
The second half ended up being a one-way street: MIBR shut out the Terrorists with a water-tight defense and kept their opponents from stringing rounds en route to a convincing victory.
