Dignitas outlast Orgless; through to Group C consolidation final

Dignitas bested Orgless 2-1 (Nuke 10-16, Inferno 16-11, Train 19-15), securing a spot in the group C consolidation final of Flashpoint phase 2.

After their initial loss against Gen.G, the veterans of Dignitas found themselves on the cusp of elimination from the second stage of the league, and to make matters worse, they had to face the very team that had shortened their phase 1 run, Orgless.

This time around, the Swedes were the better team, but they were made to work hard to fend off Pujan "FNS" Mehta's troops. The two teams initially exchanged maps to set the tone of the series, and on the deciding map, Train, the years of grit truly shone through. Despite wasting three series points, the veterans kept their composure and and closed out the match with a flawless overtime performance to keep themselves in contention for a spot in the Group C final.

GeT_RiGhT concluded the series with an impressive 1.32 rating

The series commenced on Nuke, where early momentum went the way of Orgless, thanks to a successful pistol round. The dynamic leveled out by round six, as Dignitas found ways of converting rounds, but a pivotal 1v2 post-plant clutch by FNS turned the tide of war in his team's favour. From this point onward, the CTs dropped only a single round, securing a convincing 11-4 lead. Orgless repeated their pistol success on the T side, later stopped two rounds short of map closure by Dignitas. The Swedes retaliated further, but a crucial flank from Gage "Infinite" Green in round 26 created an opening for a 16-10 victory to be secured.

Inferno saw the veteran squad bounce back after a shaky start to the CT side. Two post-plant situations were defused, but persistence from Orgless meant an equalizer shortly afterwards. A triple kill from Richard "Xizt" Landström fired up the team to close out an impressive eight-round streak, but the last laugh of the initial half was on FNS and company at 5-10. Orgless saw early success on their own defense, but stunning performances from Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg ensured map three at 16-11.

Train would decide the outcome of the series, and things looked on the up for Orgless, who managed to accrue a healthy five-round lead early on. The momentum swung the way of the veteran squad thanks to a pivotal AWP triple kill from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, and Dignitas maintained it throughout the majority of the half, which they ended with a narrow 8-7 advantage.

Similar to the previous half, the initial momentum was in the hands of Orgless, but it slipped out of their hands once Dignitas stabilized after the early shake-up. A 1v1 clutch from Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker was a gamechanger, as it played a massive role in ensuring overtime for the Americans, but it only served to postpone the inevitable as a flawless overtime performance meant a 19-15 conclusion in favor of Dignitas, who will face the loser of the match between MIBR and Gen.G for a spot in the group final.
