Official: ImAPet leaves Evil Geniuses
The 23-year-old coach left the team following an alleged conflict with in-game leader Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and with Tarik "tarik" Celik, according to information first reported by DBLTAP and confirmed by HLTV.org. He made his last appearance in the server for Evil Geniuses in Friday's 1-2 defeat to Liquid in ESL Pro League Season 11, which saw the team finish second in the round-robin stage with a 3-2 record.
Chet was part of the team for nearly two years, having been appointed as the squad's coach in May 2018 following his departure from OpTic. He led the team to No.1 in the world rankings last year following an impressive post-break run that saw them reach the semi-finals at the StarLadder Major, and win ESL One New York and StarSeries i-League Season 8.
Evil Geniuses hit a rough patch of form after that, ending the year in fifth place in the rankings, with almost half the points of then world No.1, Astralis. The North Americans began 2020 by finishing third of their group in BLAST Premier Spring Series - forcing them to go through the Showdown stage - and then went out of IEM Katowice in 9th-12th place.
The ex-NRG team will return to action in a few days' time, taking on Liquid in the upper bracket final of ESL Pro League Season 11.
Update: The story has been updated following Evil Geniuses' confirmation of Chet's departure.
