NAVI beat OG to extend winning start in ESL Pro League Stage 2

Natus Vincere are now 2-0 in the second stage of ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe after taking down OG in a nail-biting three-map affair.

The CIS giants stuttered, then moved into high gear, once again coming out victorious in the end after giving a poor account of themselves on the opening map. The match at times resembled NAVI's victory against Astralis yesterday, though the IEM Katowice champions did not find things as easy as they had against the Danes and left it late to wrap up the series against a stubborn OG side, who are still winless in this stage of the league.

NAVI showed the exact same issues on Inferno that had cost them the opening map against Astralis. They were completely outfought during the early stages of the game, in which Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov was constantly caught off-guard as he attempted to take banana control without any sort of help.

With the game starting to get away from NAVI, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Denis "electronic" Sharipov gave the team a bolt of resurgent energy with some key multi-kill frags as they combined for 23 frags in the half (68 percent of NAVI's total) to reduce the deficit to five rounds before the break.

Now playing on the Terrorist side, NAVI kept themselves in the game after winning a messy pistol round on the A site, but there was no follow-up as OG responded immediately following a trio of kills from Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså with a Desert Eagle. Natus Vincere never found themselves in the game after that, picking up only one more round before the map came to an end.

s1mple was in great form as NAVI pulled off a reverse sweep

s1mple opened up the action on Overpass with a quad-kill to put NAVI in the lead, with the CIS side following that up with the next two rounds for a solid 3-0 start. The shape of the game changed dramatically once OG had money in the bank as Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's troops tightened up and gradually took the upper hand. NAVI were often betrayed by the clock and, for the most part, struggled to impose their will as they ended the half chasing a three-round deficit.

Things went from bad to worse for NAVI after the break as they fell further behind after losing the opening rounds, but they took control of proceedings after getting their economy under control. Boombl4's charges shut out the OG offense with a near-flawless defensive display, winning nine rounds without response to level the series.

Natus Vincere got off to a flying start to their T side on Dust2 and tore the OG apart defense during the early stages of the game. Aleksib put his team on the board after denying a 1v3 clutch from s1mple, but the Ukrainian was unfazed by the setback as he went 22-7 in the half to lead NAVI to a commanding 11-4 lead.

Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt kept OG in the game with a trio of p250 frags in the B tunnels, setting the team up for a 3-0 start to the half. NAVI responded with guns in hand and strung three rounds together, but then their defense began to crumble. OG went on a dominant run and brought the deficit to a minimum before Egor "flamie" Vasilyev stepped up to the plate with five frags in two rounds to take NAVI through the finish line.

So far, so good. But they gonna get steamrolled by fnatic with that performance level.

2020-04-06 22:51
Inferno is their weak map. They lost on it yesterday as well
2020-04-06 22:51
1st map is just warmup for s1mple, on 2nd and 3rd he finally starts playing.
2020-04-06 23:54
Navi really only start playing when they have to, it's scary how good they are...they can activate whenever they're in danger. The fact they're beating everyone by just playing like it's matchmaking during the first half of these games is impressive.. They can 16/2 everyone like they did at katowice if they want to
2020-04-06 22:52
Feels like it but inferno was weak from them. I dont buy this 16-2 thing yet.
2020-04-06 22:56
thats what everyone saying, losing 1 map =/= being in danger. When they're really in danger, they always seem to make huge come back on 2nd map and play completely on a different level.

Unbelieveable reverse sweep. After the 1st half of Overpass, I was sure Na'Vi was done for, but after the comeback on that map and the surprising performance from Perfecto on Dust II, they managed to surprise me. gg
2020-04-06 22:52
Yeah perfecto stepped up big. If it's not electronic, then either flamie or perfecto step up. That's what I've noticed with this roster in past few months. S1mple is always fragging as expected.

This OG team is certainly still lack firepower. Some more lost is good for them, so they might consider to do some change. Both valde and mantuu is good, but i dont think they can be a star player at all. They need a true star player on the team that they can relly on. They should cut either nbk or issaa and try again to get jampii and help him with his issue, kids is insane. or they should try to snatch jks from 100T, they're shit atm.

OG is a very cute (in a good way) team. I enjoyed watching them, one can really see that the guys got a lot of ideas for many rounds and tactics preparation is there. Issa has some issues with positioning but overall the squad looks very promising. Navi played ok but nothing stellar. Perfecto really needs to step up in many ways. His timings are terrible, he got killed holding a grenade or while turning away for a split-second so often that it is starting to be irritating. His single shots are pretty good but sprays are just awful, he is not even close to electronic or flamie in terms of spray control. Boom4ich probably just had a very bad day. Hopefuly he will recover for tomorrow's game.
