HAVU eliminate Cloud9; advance to Flashpoint 1 consolidation final

The lower-bracket final series between HAVU and Cloud9 finished with two comfortable map wins for the Finnish side, eliminating Ricky "⁠floppy⁠" Kemery and co. from the competition.

Both Cloud9 and HAVU fell into the lower-bracket after facing favorites in the upper bracket semis, and reached a top4 placinsg following wins over Orgless and Gen.G, respectively. However, Cloud9 was outmatched by the Finnish side today, who continue their impressive run in the league thanks to wins on Nuke and Vertigo, booking a spot in the consolidation final.

HAVU secured up a 5-2 start on the T side of their map pick, Nuke, before Ian "⁠motm⁠" Hardy and Aran "⁠Sonic⁠" Groesbeek recovered a 2v4 to add the third to the board for Cloud9. The success was short-lived, though, as HAVU won the following round with just pistols and ran away with a 9-4 lead.

The American-South African side managed six before the switch, but Olli "⁠sLowi⁠" Pitkänen's pistol triple set up HAVU for an easy CT side. They were 13-6 up when Cloud9 won a crucial 3v3 to keep themselves in the game, but the match was eventually closed out 16-11 thanks to Lasse "⁠ZOREE⁠" Uronen's AWPing and a sneaky triple from Joonas "⁠doto⁠" Forss in the final round.

On Vertigo, Cloud9 managed to recover from man-disadvantage situations three rounds in a row, pushing into a 4-2 lead, only to allow HAVU to bounce back after the Finns clutched out a 3v5 of their own. The push-and-pull continued for the rest of the half, but Cloud9 edged ahead before the switch, 8-7.

Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha's men held off Cloud9's retake attempt in the pistol and powered on, finding gaps in the A bombsite defense time after time to go 13-8 up. Then, a change of pace towards B worked perfectly for the Finnish side, bringing them to the edge of victory. HAVU didn't slow down after that, either finishing the map 16-8 after a flawless T-side.
