ESL One: Road to Rio groups revealed
ESL has revealed the groups and the complete schedule for the upcoming ESL One: Road to Rio tournament series.
Kicking off on April 22 in Europe and in the Americas (April 30 in the CIS and May 6 in Asia and Oceania), ESL One: Road to Rio will be a series of online tournaments held globally with a Valve-sponsored prize pool of $255,000.
Besides the prize money, teams will also compete for Regional Major Ranking (RMR) points, which will be used to determine the participants at this year's ESL One Rio Major. This will be the first of two RMR Series, the second of which will be held later in the year, between the player break and October 18 as HLTV.org recently revealed.

In Europe, North America, Asia and the CIS, teams have been split into two round-robin groups featuring a best-of-three match format. In Europe, the top four teams from both groups will progress to a double-elimination bracket (top two to the upper bracket and the next two to the lower bracket), while in North America and in the CIS, the top three finishers will advance to a single-elimination bracket. In Asia, only the top two sides will move on to the playoffs.
In the other two regions, South America and in Oceania, the teams will square off in a round-robin stage, with the first-placed side advancing to the final and the next two to a semi-final match.
